8 week old baby

So I have an 8 week old baby. She is quite good at night, goes down quite easily and has 2 feeds during the night.

The problem is I am now sleeping with ear plugs in and a pillow over my head to try and quieten down the sound of her grunting and fussing whilst asleep!

I don't know what is causing the grunting (I'm a first time mum), but she doesn't cry and is asleep so it can't be hurting her?

AIBU to put her in her own room so I can get some sleep? Is she far too young?

I think most small babies go through a grunting stage. From what I remember it was this sort of age. It doesn't last for ever and IME they don't actually need attention. I slept in ear plugs and would still wake up when my baby cried for a feed.

Do you have a partner and can they sleep through it?

If so leave them together and go move elsewhere!

I moved my boys into their own rooms at 10 and 12 weeks. It is against current advice but they both slept exactly the same in a cot as they did their Moses basket. It is your decision what you do as long as you read up and make an informed decision it is up to you. We couldn’t get a cot in our bedroom and they boys were both really long so had to be moved as they were too big for baskets!

The grunting and heavy breathing stops around 2 or 3 months. My youngest was really noisy and would often wake himself up with it, sleeps ‘like a baby’ now
