Kids playing in the street ball hitting cars

I live in a cul de sac and the neighbours who live around the corner send their kids into the cul de sac to play football on the road. Then the football gets kicked around and hits my car which is parked in my driveway. This is all the time when things are normal, I'm not talking about just during our current lockdown situation. It's really annoying seeing as there's a park around the corner where the children could go to play football and not hit people's cars with their balls. The kids are aged between 10 and 12. Am I being a grouch or would this annoy other people?

You're not being a grouch, this would properly piss me off. They shouldn't be playing in the street anyway at the minute. But even under normal circumstances they should not be kicking footballs near cars which could get damaged.

You are not being a grouch.

This would annoy anyone. Potential for unnecessary, avoidable damage to your property. Have any of the cars been damaged?

Have you talked about this with the family in question?

JigglyOhara · 21/04/2020 16:09

@LonelyFromCorona I haven't spoken to the family about it yet no... we're not long in the area so i didn't want to rock the boat with the neighbours up to now but I think I'll have to have a word. No damage to my car that I can see anyway

Loud, authoritative voice: "Right, come on now lads. That's the second time your ball has hit my car. Time to take it to the park! Off with you now!"

RebelWhoWashesFor19Seconds · 21/04/2020 16:33

(Or whatever similar sentence you like. That's said in a broad Lancashire accent so make sense) Wink

@RebelWhoWashesFor19Seconds I'll send DP to do my bidding as I'm too much of a wimp Grin

YANBU. No way would I let my DC kick the ball into people's cars. (Even if there wasn't a park available - it doesn't mean they get to damage random cars!).
