To order food tonight?

I haven’t ordered food for 5 weeks during this whole corona pandemic (this isn’t a boast, I am absolutely sick of cooking and have been having fish fingers and chips, packet noodles and crap the past week) my concern is the person preparing the food may have the virus and coughed on it, etc.
I am desperate to get a take away tonight, I haven’t had a day out the kitchen, feeding a big family in too long. Plus all the plates, pots after to wash.
WIBU to order food tonight or am I risking the virus and being stupid?

The advice I've seen is to disgard packaging and blast it in the over for a short period

BlackeyedSusan · 21/04/2020 14:45

Nuke it in the microwave.

YANBU

They are open, they want the business.

There is a risk, as with any food kitchen (even before this crisis). Many takeaways will probably detail what kind of extra stuff they are doing to reduce the risks e.g. contact-free delivery. Do anything else you feel is right to mitigate on your end (me personally, I wouldn't bother beyond a wash of the hands after removing from packaging and plating up). Enjoy.

You can but be warned, I ordered takeaway a couple of weeks ago and it took 4.5 hours to arrive and then the order was wrong. We were not hungry by then and wished we had just cooked. We haven't had a takeaway since (also not bragging, we've eaten our fair share of junk still) because it's not worth it at the moment I don't think.

It's fine, we've been ordering in fairly regularly

We've had pizza delivered and takeaway from local Italian for my birthday. You can only hope their hygiene is up to a scratch. The virus would not survive on hot food and you just discard the packaging.

Thanks for all the replies Smile , yes that’s my only concern to be honest, just worrying whether the hygiene Is up to scratch at the moment! Just having a scroll through just eat, all the local take aways have good reviews from this week. Hopefully be ok then!
