Banging head against furlough wall.

I moved jobs in March. Therefore no furlough pay. Tough as dh is self employed through a limited company so is therefore not entitled to any help.
Was alerted on here that the qualifying date had changed to 19th March. Happy days. But no. According to HMRC you have to have been included to a Real time information return before 19th March. Of course those of us paid monthly aren't included on this until payroll is run at the end of the month. So that means that the change of date is meaningless for most of the 200000 people it should help. Aibu to be really fecked off with it all now?

It's so hard. We had a member of staff join us on 6th March so was originally excluded. Saw that it been extended to 19th March and was so relieved. Then the announcement that the RTI had to have been done before 19th March and we did ours on the 20th :(

Would your new company actually furlough you? If they would then you can come to an agreement with your old and new company that your old company rehires you to put you on furlough. This is now allowed by hmrc. You can then move back to new firm when they no longer want you on furlough.

I think it's a stretch to expect an employer you have left to rehire someone that has left!

It is, but some certainly are. It's the only way right now I'm afraid.

What does 'self employed through a limited company' mean? That he runs his own limited company?

Isleepinahedgefund · 20/04/2020 23:02

If you work through a ltd company you aren't self employed....

It's unfortunate but there has to be a cut off somewhere.
