Stunt pineapple for work zoom meetings?

I'm just about to sign in to my very first online meeting. I'm in my kitchen/diner, dressed (well, not in pjs) and hair brushed. Took a look at myself via zoom to check if I was clear on the screen. Whirlwind clear-up of the kitchen followed, along with strategic placing of fruit bowl with pineapple...

Tell me what you've added/removed from your background before video calls!

We did farewell drinks over Zoom. Backgrounds varied from a pub to a Caribbean Island to a super yacht to Spongebob (and pineapple!). Get yourself one before your next meeting and ignore real life.

@LaurieFairyCake, I’m dying! Do you watch Modern Family? I’m picturing Cam stalking in, holding baby Lily aloft to announce they’ve adopted, utterly inspired! I’d do it, but my dogs weigh 25kg and my arms, whilst reminiscent of cooked ham hocks, are as weak as sticks and wouldn’t cope.

I’m liking the whole Viking helmet/beard thing. I have a fine collection of hats, from flat caps to wedding guest type...I can see a lot of fun could be had. Today”s meeting was in the kitchen, with the iPad angled to show my face and the beam on the ceiling. Classy. I must investigate the virtual backgrounds. I might suggest it, just a link to the entire staff, no message.

I've been giving lessons on zoom with an arty print that actually lived elsewhere in the house and a vase of flowers deliberately in view. Just off camera there is an airer with laundry on and the hoover etc

My daughters are drawing pictures and sticking them on the wall behind where I sit for meetings. Since the office designers put “inspirational words” on the cupboard doors behind my desk, I’m just recreating to work environment

Can anyone tell me how to access the virtual backgrounds? I don’t see it on my iPad version of zoom. Do I need to be using a laptop?

I am so buying a stunt pineapple for my husband's meetings.

He's working from our bedroom so they'll think he's a right weirdo with a pineapple on the window sill.

Virtual backgrounds??? How did I not know this!! Omg I was in the garden at 7am picking fucking flowers to put on the shelf behind my head 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve also moved a picture from my bedroom wall to the spare room I’m using as an office.

Last time, I used a picture of one of our meeting rooms at work (much confusion) and this one...

You can use any photo or video for a zoom background. Just download a picture to your laptop. In a zoom call click on the attic next to the camera symbol and choose background. 😁

Best background competition? I'll swap you... we have all been asked to dress up like a character from Tiger King for a meeting!

I failed to consider this at all - Someone asked me what the two big metal cabinets were behind me .... they’re gun cabinets. Hope I didn’t scare them!

Friday's background is a couple of DD's Barbie heads blown up to life size and my head appears between them. No one gets to see my house - too many feral children doing stupid things and DP wandering around in pants

The problem with virtual backgrounds is that Zoom doesn't seem to permit them on every type of system. It doesn't on my MacBook, for a start.

On the news, I'm loving the heaving bookshelves crammed with books at every angle. So validating.

I feel weird just looking at Joe Wicks' bland, grey, manicured "lounge". Like I can't tell which way is up.
Real clutter all the way for me

I sit at our kitchen table and use an old iPad for the zoom meetings, I use my work laptop to work on while the meeting is in progress (because they do drag on!)
In order to get the best angle I stand the iPad up on four games boxes so that I'm not looking down and it's difficult to see my emerging double chin. The iPad is sometimes used to entertain our granddaughter so it's in one of those enormous rubber cases so it can stand up. People who look down at their screen are doing themselves no favours!

But I will be wearing a viking helmet. And not mentioning it.

We had a big family quiz last week (17 teams). I started in a pair of deely boppers and a sibling had a hat (he always wears hats). By the of the evening everybody had some kind of headwear without a word being spoken. It was quite weird how it happened.

@13BogRollBOGOF Joe Wicks had cleared the room for the workouts. He has done a tour of the area on his insta and the landing outside of the room is stuffed floor to ceiling with the furniture that is usually in the room.
