To ask for a gift idea where money is tight

Posting for traffic.

Is my brother's 30th Birthday in June. I'm a sahm and my husband has been sent home unpaid due to virus and unfortunately doesn't qualify for furlough. Therefore money is extremely tight.

I feel bad that my brother is having his 30th amongst this and still want to get him something special but as affordable as possible.

Any ideas? He is into gaming, lego, gardening, a bit of cooking. The thing is he is very comfortable with money and can buy himself whatever he wanted. So I guess I'm looking for more creative/sentimental ideas?

I've just had a look esty do lego picture frames with figures, are you creative enough to do your own?

Thurmanmurman · 20/04/2020 13:36

There's a website called tree to my door and I got SIL a rosebush delivered for her birthday. What about something like that?

MsChatterbox · 20/04/2020 13:36

I know somebody who does lego designs on Etsy e.g. keyrings, frames with a custom figure made to look like them or favourite lego super hero etc with a message in. Probably no more than about £10.

Can get the link if you'd like.

Roughly, what is your budget?

fireworkprincess88 · 20/04/2020 14:33

Can you bake him a cake? I am sure he is sensitive to your situation, if you do something that shows love, time and effort- I am sure it will be appreciated. Hope you are OK and the tricky financial situation subsides x

I'd make a food hamper and maybe a cookery book.

bobstersmum · 20/04/2020 14:40

A friend made me a photo album with all pics of me and dh and kids in, was really thoughtful.

MsChatterbox · 20/04/2020 15:11

@fireworkprincess88 this is a good idea! He likes fudge so I think I will make him some even if just as an extra! Thank you 😊

@MumW just as low as possible. Luckily we don't need to MOT our car in July anymore due to corona so will be using something from the savings for that which will need to be replaced!

Lego key ring from their website? Got loads of cool characters.

macpumpkin1 · 20/04/2020 16:15

You can get a Lego person mould for a birthday cake and make one for him. Everyone loves a homemade cake.
