Just that really. I started tonight. I done it, feel great for it.

But got home and googled. A lot of websites online and old Mumsnet threads seem to suggest you shouldn't run run the first week or so, and that you should Jog?
An American blogger ive followed also says the same thing.

Can someone explain which is it, do I run or jog for now? Envy

5k just reached running (well 5.1). 40 minutes continuous running

Allsloppy · 25/05/2020 09:16

@NeverForgetYourDreams-Congratulations I imagine you feel awesome. Bet you never thought you would be running for 40 minutes even a few weeks ago. Hopefully I will get to where you are soon (on week 7).

friskybivalves · 25/05/2020 09:23

I DID IT TOO.

I wouldn't say I smashed it. More...poked a hole in it. But amazingly Strava showed I ran 2.6km without stopping. The first minute I thought god I'm already panting. But then I went into a kind of reverie around mins 11-16 and that helped.

Now I have W6R1 to look forward too. But that was definitely a mental mountain for me to overcome. Thank you all for your encouragement!

GuyFawkesDay · 25/05/2020 10:32

W6R3 done. HOT. Soooo hot!!!

3.88km in 30m including the warm up walk, 8min/km. Had literally a 15 second walk at the turn around point as I'd run 8m uphill beforehand and I was dead on my feet but 8ll take that.

Wow! Well done NeverForget running for 40mins is an amazing achievement!

Anyone with an Apple Watch - do you use the workouts on it or the Nike Run-app?

NeverForgetYourDreams · 25/05/2020 17:03

I use strava on the Apple Watch

NoTeaForMe · 27/05/2020 08:05

W6 R1 done yesterday! Was definitely harder than the 20 min run. But I went consciously slower on that long one so maybe that was it. Anyway it’s completed so I’m happy!

friskybivalves · 29/05/2020 14:34

Just done W6R2. I truly think that the first three mins are the worst. My legs feel like lead and I feel a bit short of breath. Then somehow things seem to click. Next one is the 25mins!!

Frouby · 30/05/2020 08:01

W5, R2 completed yesterday. Felt so good doing it. 2 x 8 mins. Thought I would struggle on the last one but I could have kept going I reckon. Found 2 x 8 mins easier than 3 x 5 mins. Really looking forward to doing the 20 min now just so I can say I've done it.

I'm very stready away tho. Ds (6) is faster than me but I really don't care 😂

Nightbirdcackle · 07/06/2020 20:09

Just completed week 7, run 3. It seems to have become a pattern - after 10 mins I'm almost ready to give up, I'm really having to push through the next 2 mins, but as soon as Laura says I'm halfway through it gets easier. I'm about to start week 8. Only another three minutes extra ... can it be that hard? I hope not!!

friskybivalves · 07/06/2020 23:01

Me too! I'm ok at the beginning now. Find the second split the slowest. Then seem to gain in confidence and push on through OK. Next one is 28mins. I'm still only covering 3.6km so a long way off 5k though!!
