To wonder how people manage FB with 5000 friends?

I am friends (well, not really friends, but people I have met) with a couple of people who have 5000 friends. These people are very well know in my profession and it's good to see what they are up to professionally.
If you have 1000's of friends, how do you manage FB? Do you block people you don't really know? Otherwise how do you keep up with so many people posting?

I have no idea how many friends I have on FB, I just tend to look and carry on. I don't feel the need to respond to every post people put up though. Tbh I respond to about 1% or less of what I see.

The Facebook algorithm will mana that they only mostly see content in their newsfeed from the people they interact with most/regularly.

My sister has a number of friends on Facebook. She unfollows people she doesn’t talk to.

I guess they don't expect to read every single thing all of their friends post.

I have lees than 100 FB friends and I don't look at a single of their postings most of the time. It is not mandatory, you know? In fact the first thing I do when I Friend someone is to unfollow them, I find constant updates of the inanity other people choose to post very tiring. I am really not interested in people's minutiae. If I want to know what's happening in someone's life, FB is not the place I'll find out the truth anyway, so I'd rather call them and ask.

Ah yes, the good old FB "only see posts from certain people" algorithm.
So they probably only see posts from their proper friends anyway.
