To expect the the toaster put back to normal?!

When someone has used the toaster to cook waffles (and therefore turned the heat up to max), AIBU to expect them to turn it back down afterwards so I don’t burn my toast?!

Yabu. Sorry.

Check the dial

19lottie82 · 19/04/2020 17:46

YABU

EatDessertFirst · 19/04/2020 17:47

Sorry, YABU.

You should check the dial and turn it to your preference.

vodkaredbullgirl · 19/04/2020 17:47

Check it before you use it.

Makeitgoaway · 19/04/2020 17:48

Um, don't you turn it down for waffles or the sugar burns?

TitianaTitsling · 19/04/2020 17:48

Yabu- who gets to decide what the 'normal' setting is?!

iklboo · 19/04/2020 17:49

Are you the husband from the other toaster thread? YABU, sorry. I always check first.

SassenachWitch · 19/04/2020 17:49

I didn’t think the dial was a temperature control. It’s time isn’t it?

BigRedBoat · 19/04/2020 17:50

No I would say whoever is using it should check it, also don't waffles need to be at the lowest setting?

Pinkblueberry · 19/04/2020 17:50

It’s frustrating - but I don’t think it’s possible once your toast, waffles, whatever is out the toaster to actually remember to do that. People just want to eat - the brain will not compute. At the same time, no one thinks to look at the dial before toasting to check either. Toast will be burnt, bread will be wasted - that’s just life. I would learn to accept it.

SharonasCorona · 19/04/2020 17:51

YANBU. Max is way too much. They should put it mid way so the best person can decide where they want it.

Yes it’s a timer! I only learnt this recently.

iklboo · 19/04/2020 17:53

What if they're potato waffles? Grin

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 19/04/2020 17:56

I get irritated by that
I'm the only one using the toaster. Grin

PiggyPlumPie · 19/04/2020 17:57

YANBU! I have toast every day for breakfast. DD has it once in a blue moon - actually she doesn't have toast, it's warm bread. She should turn it back up!

I hate having to put my toast back down as it goes really crispy.

She gets a slap if she doesn't turn it back up! not really just in case anyone actually believes me

CanIbesomeoneelse · 19/04/2020 18:03

Yes - potato waffles!
And no I’m not the husband from the other thread - I’m a wife who has just realised how annoyed I am when the toast burns!

My toaster button isn’t a timer, it’s a heat thing.
