DPs music in the garden

Trivial I know but wondering if I'm just being a grump. I hate music in the garden, I love the peace and quiet and birdsong especially when for once none of the neighbours are mowing/strimming!

DP has his music playing - admittedly very quietly but I just want to read in peace. I've asked him would he mind turning it off for a bit but he says it's really quiet so surely is not bothering me too much.

I don't see why his desire to listen to music trump's my desire for peace?

I've suggested an hour on then off but he's got all huffy.

Not important in the grand scheme of things I know!

Headphones. Decent compromise

Macncheeseballs · 19/04/2020 14:51

What a cock

Tell him to put headphones in.

Why does your desire for peace trump his desire to listen to music quietly?

44PumpLane · 19/04/2020 14:53

Headphones..... Simple.

If he's not willing to wear them he's an arse

Soubriquet · 19/04/2020 14:55

Why don’t you go in and read in the bedroom?

Or ask him to go inside

Or you can wear headphones. Or suggest he does

MatildaTheCat · 19/04/2020 14:57

I have my headphones on right now, sitting in my garden. It’s to drown out the neighbour’s noisy DC but it’s better than having it playing out loud anyway.

Go and grab a pair and throw them at him.

The default is silence (well, apart from birds etc)

Anything other than that needs to be agreed by all parties (including neighbours)

Macncheeseballs · 19/04/2020 14:59

He is trying to impose his music taste, it can hardly be claimed op is trying to impose nature's sounds on him

Why does your desire for peace trump his desire to listen to music quietly?*

It doesn't - hence my suggesting an hour on and off

Bluetooth headphones. Problem sorted. I’m the same, my neighbours have the music on in their garden all day does my head in when I just want to sit in the sun and read a book.
