Friends boyfriend is rude?

FaceTimed with my friend last night (her suggestion if relevant)

We were about 20/30 mins into the chat when her boyfriend comes and sits next to her. Says hello and then sits there on his phone.

I felt quite awkward as wouldn’t necessarily discuss/have the same conversation with him just there listening.

They are self isolating together so are already spending 24/7 with each other. Too much to ask to have an hour to talk in private?

I assume it was the main living area your friend was chatting to you in. If so YABU to expect him to keep out while you blether on for an hour, even if they are together 24/7

I think you've got overly sensitive about this entire issue. OTT wasn't intended as a sly dig - I just think you're taking it all a little seriously and getting overly invested. It's slightly annoying that he sat down when you wanted to have a private call - if your friend was bothered she could have moved elsewhere or you could have ended the call and next time ask your friend to take the call somewhere private like the bedroom. It just doesn't seem like a huge deal to me and while I haven't read the entire thread I haven't seen any comments attacking you. Some people think the boyfriend are rude, some people think your expectations are rude.

I think the person on the phone should move if they want to keep their call private.

The phone person shouldn’t hog the facilities of the communal kitchen / living room etc. They can take a call anywhere.

I get annoyed if anyone is on the phone in, say, the living room, meaning I now can’t use the TV. Just move! It’s called a mobile phone for a reason!

I think the friend wanted to end the call, she would've moved otherwise?
