I am very envious! I’m using up what’s in the cupboard but there are gaps in essentials now. Bread flour is one of them.

What are you going to make?

oooompa · 18/04/2020 15:54

Pictures of delicious baked goods will be required OP, so we can see what we're missing out on Grin

Can't get any flour near us at the moment. DP is a good baker as well, he's most upset he can't take advantage of reduced work hours by baling more!

Ninkanink · 18/04/2020 15:57

I’m genuinely so excited about our grocery delivery (first proper grocery shop in over 4 weeks!). Grin

@oooompa apparently mills have plenty of flour, they just can’t process in small enough quantities for supermarkets. If you can get in touch with the nearest mill to you they might be able to send you a out a huge catering/hospitality bag.

macaroniandpizza · 18/04/2020 16:22

Nelstrop mill is where i got my flour. 15.50 for my bag and 5.95 delivery. Im going to make bread and some pizza bases first. I need to find more yeast i cant seem to get any anywhere

At the risk of sounding silly, I didn't even know you could purchase flour directly from the mill Blush

Off to have a Google to see if there is anywhere local to me that can deliver!

Kirschcherry · 18/04/2020 16:37

We got a 16 k bag too and we just got a pizza oven. Soooo happy.

TheChippendenSpook · 18/04/2020 16:43

Md too! I'm going to bake some chocolate chip buns and cover them with melted chocolate. They don't look very good but people always love them so they must taste good!

GoGoJo · 18/04/2020 17:20

I also bought a 16kg bag but could only get all purpose. The bread has turned out ok though so not the end of the world. Also struggled to get years but made a sourdough starter and that has worked well

TheStuffWasBad · 18/04/2020 17:34

Omg! I clicked on this thread thinking how I would be really excited if I could find bread flour.. I totally get you op!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2020 17:36

I got dried yeast on eBay. And flour on pre-order from Windsor Cake Supplies (16kg bags of plain and strong white @ £15.00 per bag).

Difficultcustomer · 18/04/2020 17:42

I don’t bake myself but I saw this on the Mash Report and thought of MN

OP did you share this to an Instagram story recently too?

Freshfaced · 18/04/2020 17:47

We've ordered from there as well! DH has been very grumpy about the lack of flour- he bakes every week even prior to the pandemic and his sourdough starter is dangerously hungry....

RandomMess · 18/04/2020 18:19

I was thrilled to manage to get plain flour! Yorkie puds back on the menu...

macaroniandpizza · 18/04/2020 19:46
