Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

I thought that was Michelle Obama?

twirlycat77 · 21/04/2020 13:17

Yes I remember being hugely annoyed at Theresa May curtseying at layabout William. It’s that kind of behaviour that feeds the royal families huge sense of superiority and self importance.. I would have respected William if he’d said “no please, don’t curtsey, I’m not your superior” or something on those lines.

MarshaBradyo · 21/04/2020 13:29

Maybe MO too but Paul Keating 1992

Baconisgoodformeee · 21/04/2020 14:03

A lot of bitterness and jealously in this thread. I guess it must be galling to hate something which will carry on going completely indifferent to your keyboard-mashing rants 😂

MarshaBradyo · 21/04/2020 14:04

Bacon you are hilarious.

Bit like you and this thread then?

Alsohuman · 21/04/2020 14:35

Pot/kettle?

BurneyFanny · 21/04/2020 15:18

And what would happen if the queen stopped having her daily briefings? Fuck all, that's what. Talk about a non-essential worker.

Mamamia456 · 21/04/2020 15:56

MsTSwift - Oh yes Chérie Blair who was more than happy to accept a CBE from the Queen but for some reason didn't want any publicity. Wonder why that was.

And for whom the Queen said "Every time I walk in to a room her legs seem to stiffen".

Haha, great comment from the Queen.

eddiemairswife · 21/04/2020 16:03

Did the Queen actually say that, or was it in the film?

Mamamia456 · 21/04/2020 16:13

Eh ? What film? No the Queen is quoted as saying that. She is known for her sharp wit and sense of humour.

stellabelle · 21/04/2020 16:19

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?
That's an old story which was proved to be a complete fraud.

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?
20 meals between them, followed by a photographer.

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk
She'd be sensibly isolating like any older lady .

LaurieMarlow · 21/04/2020 16:19

She is known for her sharp wit and sense of humour.

That sounds like dickish entitlement to me. But like her hubby.

Why should Cherie curtesy to some fairly average country aristo?

MarshaBradyo · 21/04/2020 16:21

I bet they all have a good chuckle at their unsuspecting subjects. In contrast to the adoration they receive.

Pelleas · 21/04/2020 16:42

I've never been Cherie's greatest fan, but good for her on this occasion!

Agree the Queen's comment wasn't witty. It's very ungracious to comment on a perceived breach of etiquette.

twirlycat77 · 21/04/2020 16:45

I think it’s wrong on every level that the queen gets daily briefings. Unnecessary and imo it’s all about giving her something to do that justifies her privileged position.

CathyorClaire · 21/04/2020 17:03

Pot/kettle?

The only keyboard mashing I've seen tends to feature the words 'nasty' and 'jealous' quite prominently followed by the poster disappearing without adding anything to support the pro-royal side of the debate. Not that they could anyway of course but it would be nice if they tried Smile

Mamamia456 · 21/04/2020 17:08

Pelleas - So why do you think that Chérie Blair didn't want the publicity when she collected her CBE, let's think, perhaps she did curtsy on this occasion after all.

Mamamia456 · 21/04/2020 17:10

Laurie- So a sharp wit and sense of humour is now dickish entitlement, whatever that means!

Pelleas · 21/04/2020 17:14

Mamamia456 The Queen's supposedly witty comment was that Cherie's legs stiffened 'every time' so I would take that to include the occasion of the CBE being presented.

twirlycat77 · 21/04/2020 17:14

We’re often told about this “sharp wit” the queen has. I always think she looks miserable, but I should imagine any sharp wit she does have is behind closed doors when they’re talking about us mugs.

MarshaBradyo · 21/04/2020 17:16

I don’t see that as particularly sharp or witty but there’s most likely much more of the same.

SpokeTooSoon · 21/04/2020 17:16

I actually like the Cambridges.

But I do think this is a golden opportunity to really do something of worth other than zoom chats and virtual openings.

They are young and fit and not likely to put themselves at great risk by getting stuck in and helping.

LaurieMarlow · 21/04/2020 17:16

So a sharp wit and sense of humour is now dickish entitlement, whatever that means!

I don’t see anything sharp or witty about it.

Much as I’ve never found Philip funny. Just intolerably racist and rude.

MsTSwift · 21/04/2020 17:17

Not that I am Cherie Blair’s biggest fan but feel those that have succeeded on their own merits rather than by dint of birth or marriage. To be fair Carole Middleton is pretty impressive.
