Husband wants to go on holiday now!

Into the caravan on the driveway.

It’s flippin gone 9pm and he wants to faff about with bedding, toilet solution, waste tank, water etc, at this time of night!

If he’d said earlier then I’d have been up for it, but me and daughters have sunk 3 bottles of fizz, and had a dance party, really can’t sort the caravan now.

I said we’ll do it tomorrow night but now he’s in a strop and said we’ll leave it til next weekend.

AIBU to not want to faff with the caravan right now?

Kind blame him, I also want to go on holiday now. Unfortunately I'm broke and we're in a bloody lockdown :(

MilkRunningOutAgain · 18/04/2020 19:48

My DD put the tent up and had a night out in the garden last week. But she didn’t ask for help at 9pm, while it’s a great idea it’s unfair to ask for help that late.

Madcats · 18/04/2020 19:50

Can I just bow to @Yummypalmtree. Admittedly we record it, but DD12 laughs and laughs at this programme*. I fear that we are picking up too many "Jim"isms during lockdown bingewatching.

  • Friday Night Dinner

I think we might pop a tent up next month.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 18/04/2020 19:51

Really what he means is he wants to shag in the caravan on the drive isn’t it?

Fair enough if he wants to sit in a caravan looking at his own house, surely he could of got the caravan ready alone (what does getting it ready even entail??) if it meant so much to him at 9pm

RingtheBells · 18/04/2020 19:52

We have a caravan on the drive, I’m thinking of sending DH in there to wfh now it’s a bit warmer. I hadn’t thought of having a little holiday in there, it does need a good tidy though

Katkincake · 18/04/2020 19:59

We’ve been using our caravan for home schooling, it’s good for giving peace to the homeworker (we switchover at lunch!).

Stopped in it last weekend for Easter weekend - well DH and DS did, I couldn’t sleep so buggered off back inside. We didn’t hook everything up though - took in bottle of water for morning coffee and a bucket for DS if he needed wee at night. It was nice chilling out till lunchtime watching TV in bed (I snuck back in before DS woke up!)
No way would I entertain setting it up after a load of fizz though!

AcrossthePond55 · 18/04/2020 20:03

LOL, ours is in the driveway, too. We were going to go on holiday so we had it ready to go and even stocked with food. And then the lockdown happened.

We've decided to just let it sit there 'as is' and keep it 'clean' in case someone needs to isolate from the rest of the household.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 18/04/2020 20:07

Ha ha, is he 9?
Surely if he wants to spend the night in the caravan he can just grab a duvet from the house and use the inside bathroom when nature calls? I’d open a 4th bottle and leave him to it...

GreenTeaMug · 18/04/2020 20:10

I'd do it!

I am now thinking of dragging pillows and blankets out to the trampoline.

XingMing · 18/04/2020 20:11

When we get these instincts, we drag a mattress outside and sleep on the flat roof/ For whatever daft reason, it's very satisfying. Go ahead and enjoy sleeping in the open air.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 18/04/2020 20:33

Oh go on!

Go on, go on!

Go wild, have the holiday.

JustHereLooking · 18/04/2020 20:38

@Yummypalmtree
😂😂 this is what I thought!

Applejaxx · 18/04/2020 20:40

If I had a caravan I'd do this!

DartmoorChef · 18/04/2020 20:45

First thing I thought if was Martin from Friday night dinner.

We have a camper van on our driveway (that needs a new engine) and i keep thinking about spending a couple of nights in it 😁

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/04/2020 20:47

I wouldn't mind a night away with dh even if it were in a caravan on the drive....

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 18/04/2020 20:47

Oh Gawwd, see all in favour of driveway camping butthis has given me the jitters - now I'm imagining people roll off Shock Grin
Is it high whatever roof you're talking about?
Arrrgh lol

Twospaniels · 18/04/2020 20:49

You’ll all be pleased to hear that we sorted out the caravan this afternoon, and now we are tucked cosily in there enjoying A bottle of fizz for me, a bottle of red for him and watching Peaky Blinders. We will pop back in the house for the loo and teeth cleaning before going back out for the night. 😁
Happy holidays

LTB

MrsKingfisher · 18/04/2020 20:51

My dh replaced our very snuggly duvet with a fluffy blanket and tried telling me we were 'going camping' prat.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 18/04/2020 20:51

@GreenTeaMug I'd do it!
I am now thinking of dragging pillows and blankets out to the trampoline.

Somebody on my FB did this with one of those enclosed trampolines, took sleeping bag and blankets out there and everything lol.
Looked great fun Grin

Hmmmm88 · 18/04/2020 20:52

We've had a sleepover in motorhome on our drive 😅 my DH is the same as yours. Roll on when we can get away again

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 18/04/2020 20:53

Yay! Sounds ace, glad you went for it Grin
Enjoy, happy holidays Smile

LuluJakey1 · 18/04/2020 21:06

We have a 1970s VW camper and DH and DS1 are planning to camp in it on the front drive for a night next week. DH loves it and DS1 is so excited. I can't get excited.

Peppafrig · 18/04/2020 21:07

@Twospaniels enjoy and if you can't be good be careful Wink

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 18/04/2020 21:11

Have you got a sign?

If the Van is rockin', don't come knockin'
