To fix DDs Lego set that she built wrong

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/04/2020 15:15

DD just completed her Lego set... But she's reversed part of the instructions so it's unsymmetrical. It is looking at me and disturbing my sense of balance. Shall I fix it while she is playing in the garden?

YABU - leave it, freestyle it's good
YANBU - fix it NOW

I would have to fix it, sorry.

MarieQueenofScots · 17/04/2020 15:18

No leave it - she built it.

If she asks for help then by all means, but don't just change it.

user1493494961 · 17/04/2020 15:19

Leave it, why does it matter?

OhioOhioOhio · 17/04/2020 15:20

Leave it.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 17/04/2020 15:21

Aww no you can’t fix it! Leave the kids toy alone

Leaannb · 17/04/2020 15:21

I swear the insteuctions in that set are weird. I did the same thing with mine. I would leave it for now. Ahe probably got frusteated with it and took a break and is probably meaning to fix it later

TheMandalorian · 17/04/2020 15:22

3rd option just completely disown her.
What is wrong with her sense of balance !?
(disclaimer: I'm joking and have no professional childcare qualifications)

Thisismytimetoshine · 17/04/2020 15:24

Fix it. That's annoying me and I'm only looking at a picture of it!

Difficultcustomer · 17/04/2020 15:25

No, or ask her - say you think one part might be the wrong way and does she want to change it. If she yes then let her come to you if she wants help.

Bettyboop3 · 17/04/2020 15:25

Don't undermine her by changing it. You will knock her confidence. Why should it be how you want it to look? I do have childcare qualifications but really this is or should be common sense.

Daftodil · 17/04/2020 15:25

I'd probably fix it. Or when she comes in say "is that right or should this bit be the other way around?"

CelestialSpanking · 17/04/2020 15:25

Leave it alone. She might decide to fix it herself later and either way, she’s presumably happy with it.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 17/04/2020 15:25

I would ask her before fixing it.

Leaannb · 17/04/2020 15:26

Sorry I hit post too soon. You can have her download the Lego Instruction app and use the QR code to download the instruction booklet for each set. Its the same as the book but its easier to zoom on on directions. Helped immensely when I was doing this set and all the larger sets

Makeitgoaway · 17/04/2020 15:27

Just put it where you aren't looking at it. You can't change it.

Chickychoccyegg · 17/04/2020 15:27

leave it, but suggest one bit might be the wrong way around

1555CC · 17/04/2020 15:27

The lego model doesn't bother me, but unsymmetrical has ruined my day. It's asymmetrical.

CHIRIBAYA · 17/04/2020 15:28

Absolutely not. Don't mention it either. She'll either leave it or change it herself and either way that's a healthy outcome for her.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/04/2020 15:32

For added information... She was the one who told me it didn't look right, but couldn't work out why she had gone wrong. Think I'll wait until later and see if she asks for help. We had a couple of occasions earlier in the set she brought it to me for help as she was confused.

@1555C I am happy to stand corrected on my use of sloppy English.

EverdeRose · 17/04/2020 15:58

Why not tell her you know where it's gone wrong and see if she wants a hand fixing it or if she can work it out by herself.

bookmum08 · 17/04/2020 16:01

Re build it into a spaceship.

TorkTorkBam · 17/04/2020 16:05

Well seeing as she asked you can say "I have been wondering about what you said. I think you might be right, there's something funny about it. Shall we look at the picture and see if we can tell what's different?"

GretchenGrundler · 17/04/2020 16:08

Why would you post of photo of this monstrosity?!

Laurendelight · 17/04/2020 16:08

My son always builds his Lego sets perfectly and then he changes the build to make it better. 🤣 could this be what your clearly a genius child is doing?

GBroGal · 17/04/2020 16:09

I like it - think of it as "architect designed" vs "Wimpey standard box" and it'll grow on you
