This one is not much better. They are obviously pissed off but still.

lmcneil003 · 17/04/2020 13:01

Just ignore it.
Don't clap yourself if you don't want to. It's not mandatory.

OldEvilOwl · 17/04/2020 13:02

WTF? This is getting ridiculous. There was a similar scene outside our local hospital

OldEvilOwl · 17/04/2020 13:03

I assume OP means they are too close not that she doesn't want to clap!

mencken · 17/04/2020 13:05

the point for the hard of thinking is not the clapping, is that lots of people have got together to do it. This is very stupid in a pandemic.

the behaviour of Londoners is going to have us all kept in our homes - and the Londoners are much less likely to have a garden.

BoingBoingyBoing · 17/04/2020 13:06

There is a reason why many people join the police, and it's because they are trumped up little facists who are loving the current situation.

ToffeeYoghurt · 17/04/2020 13:13

the behaviour of Londoners
The people doing similar across the UK, clapping outside hospitals in Barnsley for instance, don't make a difference? Why single out Londoners?

userxx · 17/04/2020 13:13

Oh the irony

Inspiralcarpetry · 17/04/2020 13:16

Can't believe this footage coming out! I'm sure there is context, blah blah. But on the surface of it, it looks as if the police are allowing mass gatherings without social distancing-because 8pm Thursdays.
Also, why aren't the police observing social distancing when talking to people? I understand I'd they're arresting someone, but that looks so menacing in the current climate to have them come so close.
Really wish the public would just stick to the guidelines given. Surely the idea was to clap from your own window Confused

Blueemeraldagain · 17/04/2020 13:20

The first link is shocking but the “journalist” is the second link was being a brat. His voice reminded me exactly of my teenage students who break off from a conversation to tell me “I wasn’t talking!”

hellsbellsmelons · 17/04/2020 13:25

@BoingBoingyBoing - I suggest you do some research on this as you are talking bollox.
Police are leaving in droves and fewer people are applying!!!!
There was a very eye opening programme on last night about the abuse the police endure and why they have to be like they are.

It was on Channel 4 at 10pm - 999: what's your emergency - get yourself educated!!!

Another little snippet for you...
'The number of people searching for UK police jobs has fallen by almost a fifth over the last two years, and dipped by 25% since just December. ...'

Tellmetruth4 · 17/04/2020 13:37

Yes all 10 million Londoners were on the bridge clapping last night and have lost their minds. They are also the only people in the country not social distancing. As soon as you exit the boundary of the M25 every single person is standing 2 metres apart from others at all times. They even walk with their own metre long stick to ensure they adhere.

All Londoners and only Londoners are stupid and evil and need to be welded into their homes like the people of Wuhan to protect the rest of the smart, law abiding, respectful and angelic non Londoners.

BoingBoingyBoing · 17/04/2020 13:38

@hellsbellsmelons I suggest you read my post properly.

I didn't say that there were 'many' people joining the police, just that many of those who do are clearly enjoying themselves, as evidenced by the many videos doing the rounds of police screaming at people who are out for legitimate reasons that they are 'killing people'.

Insideout99 · 17/04/2020 13:43

There's no point in police or hospital staff practising social distancing during the clap when they're working side by side for up to 12 hours a day with no room for social distancing. The other bystanders on the bridge I am baffled by though

Beckyboom · 17/04/2020 14:56

Who knew all Londoners could fit on Westminster Bridge Hmm

mencken · 17/04/2020 15:28

of course they can't. There has been dickish behaviour everywhere but it seems worst in the holy city of London. Which I get must be a really shit place to live at the moment (or indeed most of the time) but doesn't excuse this.

Beckyboom · 17/04/2020 15:54

I don’t disagree that the Westminster Bridge thing is ridiculous. But heat mapping shows that the worst areas for not following social distancing are not in London.

For some reason it is people in London getting in the neck because of very small pockets of stupidity like this.

ToffeeYoghurt · 17/04/2020 17:57

Mencken holy? Holey, maybe. I expect potholes being fixed isn't a current priority.

What are your thoughts on the Barnsley video showing people doing the same outside a hospital there? Idiots are spread evenly across the country. You get a few everywhere.

GlamGiraffe · 17/04/2020 18:04

I live in london and that's not representative.
Locally people are hardly on the streets now and those that are almost all masked. central London us far more obvious deserted, the only people out are almost completely covered in masks and gloves. It is really like a ghost town. People are definitely well distanced. You do get if course the oblivious ones who amazingly have no either idea what us going on r those wandering aimlessly with no distance but generally complete lack if awareness. London has become a strange and scary place now.
