To ask my neighbours to remove their wind chimes

They don't just have one, they have at least 6 and its driving me insane, litterally. There's no point us putting our music on to try and drown them out as it would have to be at full volume.

It's so bad that I can't even try and conduct a quiet conversation as I'd have to shout to be heard.

Snip one off every few days and take it with you.... watch them s ratchet their heads wandering where they have gone. Cut them as one to the top as possible Grin

Argh zombie

Flaunch · 28/05/2021 20:47

After a night of jingling I did ask my neighbour very nicely to remove hers and she did. Most people aren’t arseholes, your neighbour won’t know it’s annoying you if you don’t tell them.

@ChristmasFluff

Gawd, it's not rocket science is it??

With zombie threads, the person searches for info - fine, great, no point reinventing the wheel.

But then they post on the same thread - and very rarely is it a 'how did this turn out, OP., cos I am in a similar position?'

Oh no. It's usually a froth troll.

Then you get loads of genuine people spending precious time and energy responding because they don't notice the date and don't know how to RTFT.

TLDR: Timewaster froth trolls

We never did find out how the carpet man saga turned out. I was very disappointed by that.
EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 22:36

I wouldn't snip them but I absolutely would ask for them to be taken down, they are so bloody annoying, fortunately none of my neighbours are anti-social enough to have them.

I did a Google search for how to address this issue because it just came up yesterday.
What difference does it make if it is an old thread? I didn’t have this problem 2 years ago so why would I be looking at a thread about wind chimes at that time?
I was very happy that the person responded to a courteous note under the door.
I’ve live in NYC for many years. This place has every type of noise imaginable - except wind chimes. That was new to me. This is not a “wind chimes” type of town and no one I knew had ever encountered this type of noise problem.
I was happy to find this thread.
Have a nice day.

Why do you care if a person remarks on something from 3 years ago or one day ago? You’re commenting a thread from 3 years ago yourself.
Have a nice day.

Except you'd already addressed the issue and solved it.

If you look at the only other thread you've ever commented on you would get it. Plus it's really really irritating when people keep trying to solve a problem the OP solved years ago.

Freida2833 · 29/05/2021 10:07

Wow! I guess I don’t get it. Some other people commented recently about the same issues they had and how they resolved it too. Did you send them all notes on the correct etiquette too?

I haven't sent anyone anything. Why are you making things up?

People have only posted because you bumped the thread and it appeared in "active conversations"

SoupDragon · 29/05/2021 10:17

Anyway, clearly you aren't go to take on board why it is problematical so
I'll leave you to it.
