Claire has been consistently so much better than Sandy and yet on one good dish Sandy goes through. She's just not been that good, I don't understand why she didn't go home weeks ago. The overcooked venison in Mauritius? The weird blue soup? She served them undercooked chicken???

I realise I am clearly over invested in this! I can't believe they even considered sending the Eton tidy guy home, he has been amazing all the way through!

Grrr

Sorry OP I disagree. She’s messed up a few times but her food overall has been great. Saying that, I Love Thomas and want him to win.

Redstorm2807 · 16/04/2020 22:28

Oh yes me too, he's been amazing throughout.

Ps - I’ve not seen tonight’s

Redstorm2807 · 16/04/2020 22:30

Ah crap, sorry I didn't think about that. I'll try and change the title...

Sad to see Claire go just because they didn't like the way she arranged her dessert on the plate. I'd rather eat that than yet another chocolate fondant or Eton Mess. Isn't it just another example of style over substance?

Foxes157 · 16/04/2020 22:31

Totally agree, I've just said that to DH. Claire was generally more consistent. Thomas will have an amazing Sunday roast type of place.

westenddweller · 16/04/2020 22:33

Right choice tonight. Sandy has edge.

Claire good but a bit meh.

Thomas should win. He's stood out for weeks.

Davros · 16/04/2020 22:35

I totally agree OP. Those dumplings she made in Mauritius looked vile

QualityFeet · 16/04/2020 22:37

I really like Claire too - a very likeable person who cooked brilliantly. I think they should keep all four for the final, it’s not too many and they are so good it starts to be a bit silly as distinctions are made. This has to happen to appoint a winner but it should be from a bigger group.

Redstorm2807 · 16/04/2020 22:37

Oh God I totally forgot about the weird fish dumplings.

I thought Claire was much better than Sandy 🤷‍♀️

DingDongDenny · 16/04/2020 22:57

The trouble is it's all about the dish of the moment. They don't take into account the last few 'practice' tasks Sandy is hit or miss - Claire is consistent but less Wow

NoSauce · 16/04/2020 23:01

Claire was the weakest out of the four.

ilovesooty · 16/04/2020 23:05

I thought she was weak in the earlier rounds and lucky to get so far. I don't think she had as much technical skill as the others.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 16/04/2020 23:05

YAVVVU for spoiling it with your post title.

Tillygetsit · 16/04/2020 23:10

SPOILER ALERT!
Sandy is my favourite. She was the only one tonight to try something different. Occasionally her experimental ideas dont work (gish dumpling, anyone?) but overall she's been so good technically and creatively. I found Claire's food very dull.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 16/04/2020 23:15

I don't rate Claire at all, she has a slapdash approach which has let her down a few times now. She doesn't seem to push herself as much as the others and she really grated on me when she was giggling in the professional kitchen in Mauritius when she made mistakes. Sandy has made mistakes but takes it seriously and learns from every experience. Also over invested in it Grin

BillieEilish · 16/04/2020 23:19

Oh no, I was just about to watch this Sad

WithLotsOfSprinkles0 · 16/04/2020 23:32

I liked Beverly. She took a risk with the the constructed Beef Wellington but her food has been consistently good and dont think she deserved to go home.

But yes, I think Claire has been betterless creative maybe than Sandy

QualityFeet · 16/04/2020 23:34

I want to eat that carrot cake for my supper. Hmmm not something I can copy in the next ten mins though

NoSauce · 17/04/2020 11:36

I liked Beverley too, she seemed liked good fun and her cooking was right up my street!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 17/04/2020 11:50

i loved Beverley....total babe....didn't give a fuck, knew she was good at cooking and consistently proved it. Her downfall was purely a technicality.... listing her dish as Beef Wellington.

I also was not keen on Claire...several times she has said "oooh I've never cooked x/y/z" and it was always pretty straightforward things.

Anyone can rehearse a dish over and over and make it grand and this is where that whole programme falls down imo.

And as for blue soup Sandy...just NO!

lastqueenofscotland · 17/04/2020 11:52

I thought Claire had been hanging on by her coattails for several rounds benefitting from better cooks making serious cock ups

QualityFeet · 17/04/2020 15:14

Yeah Beverley really should have been in the final - I think it was John who likened the soup to toilet duck or equivalent... I wouldn’t want to eat it. I can’t stand watching the prissy complainants about how something was misnamed it presented a fraction off - does it taste good would be my ultimate criteria.
