Could there possibly be any Covid 19 Silverlings from this horror?

Perhaps this is a way to process faith in these horrific, scary times, but I’m just wondering what people’s opinions are on Silver Linings - if any - from this horrible dreadful disease?

With the huge amount of wisdom on Mumsnet would love to get people’s opinions.

...With all the death and destruction ‘out there’ would be great to keep this thread respectful.

I think there are massive silver linings, for the kids, the environment, so reflection on past habits, reduction of the human population. Things are good overall aren't necessarily good for individuals. Depends whether you place your value on the greater good Vs your personal good.

Benefits for the environment.
Increased family time has been good, really reconnecting with the teenagers in particular.
Coming together of local community. Had more communication with my neighbours in the last 3 weeks than the previous 12 years.
Getting back to basics, a once daily trip to the park instead of trips to cinema/softplay/expensive activities has been an eye opener.

I think many companies will have had to adopt flexible and home working arrangements and realise / be forced to admit that they are workable and don’t have the terrible impact upon productivity they previously thought they would.

Approaching the current situation as a “horror” from which you need to regain “faith” is a bit extreme, though. It’s not the Black Death.

I hope we can keep the lack of traffic and the clean air that results

I only came here to find out what a silverling was, this has been anticlimactic for me.

I meant Silverlinings. Sorry sorry.

I think Covid19 had exposed a level of riculousness with outsourcing production to China that if we don't fix it now when the next test comes, as it will, millions not thousands will die.

Saving a few pennies has cost thousands of lives. Our NHS has massive buying power why the hell can't masks, ventilators etc etc be considered critical industries and production kept in the UK along with the jobs??
