Dyson v8 no suction

Yesterday was a lovely day so I thought I will clean out my dyson, I took it apart cleaned it, left it to dry. I've put all the parts back on and now it's makes a weird sound, that sound is usually made when something is blocked, there is no suction from the hoover at all, just makes the weird sound. Am waiting now to see if anything changes after a full charge. (This has never happened before after cleaning)

Does anyone know what it could be??

I really regret cleaning the damn thing now 🙄

I usually hoover 3-4 times a day, no joke.

Oh and my warranty just ran out in feb 👏

Take the hose and all other bits off it and hold the trigger - if it still isn't sucking then you've fucked it.

Gemma2019 · 16/04/2020 14:09

Are you sure it's all totally dry? You need to air dry it all for ages after cleaning.

Cheeseismymiddlename · 16/04/2020 14:13

Did you wash the top filter in water? Is it 100 per cent dry? This has caused me problems in the past.
Actually , the whole hoover worked much better after changing the top filter even though it still looked perfect. Years of washing it must have done something I guess.
I wouldn’t buy another . When this ones dies I’ll be buying a different brand. Has been a disappointment considering the cost.

I did wash the top filter in water. It feels dry. I've just taken it all apart again and will leave to air further and try again tomorrow if I can can resist til then

you've fucked it

I suspect this is a very astute diagnostic summary of the unfolding situation.

Pro tip - buy a spare filter, that way you don’t have to wait for it to dry. £8 on Amazon

Cheeseismymiddlename · 16/04/2020 17:01

Good luck. It’s taken as long as 3 days for our filter to dry out completely( and yes, it did feel dry to touch ) so fingers crossed for you.

locomoco19 · 16/04/2020 17:26

I used to dry indoors before and would wait 24 hours. No issues. Had it drying in the sun all day yesterday and this happens 😩
Hopefully it works!!

If it doesn't, is the solution a new filter? Or a new hoover(please no)

Go to the Dyson homepage - they have great diagnostic advice on there.

So guess what!!! My hoover works!!!! Yaaayyyyy!!!
So it seemed the back filter was slightly damp still, so I got that to dry out fully and put it back together this morning and works!! The suction is so much more stronger now that it's all cleaned up!!
Best believe I spent my morning happily hoovering 🤪
