Minecraft only has male people

My DD has discovered Minecraft in the last couple of weeks. She told me today you can only get male people on Minecraft. AIBU to think that in 2020 the makers of Minecraft must have realised there are girls and women in the world too?

You can get females in Minecraft. You have a choice of two basic skins - Steve is "male" and Alex is "female". Plus you can download or create custom skins. As for NPC's they're all nondescript gender.

I put them in inverted commas as there's no reason why Steve shouldn't be a female character, or Alex male.

I'm sure there is a character named Alex you can choose who is female. My daughter choose her. I believe it was under profile you can pick but will check with my daughter

Your DD is wrong. Alex is female and you can customise yourself however you want. The graphics are blocky so there is no overt secondary sex characteristics. You barely look human.

They realised there where women gamers when it was made in 2011 so you wanting to soap box about stuff 9 years later is highlighting how lockdown is affecting some in how to get their outrage.

This is what Alex looks like just in case your dd wasn't looking for someone wearing pink or with a more "girly" name. (Not a judgement on your dd- it's not her fault that adult marketing people created pink/blue culture)

alex is female. You can also create your own character and make it look however you please.

All the animals appear to be either/or except for bats and parrots who aren't either.
Download a skin pack or find a way to make your own if Alex isn't "girly" enough.
