Anybody worried what legislation is being passed around and rubber stamped behind the scenes?

Can’t even think about that shitshow now.

Monty27 · 15/04/2020 06:46

It's still a worry what shit show's going on behind the scenes. Surely there's still deadlines and signatures required. As the electorate we should know.
I don't read newspapers any more. I listen to the news a lot.
Anyone know what's happening about Brexit?

Its going ahead next January - whats to think about? it got voted in, was the most stupid fucking decision on the planet and now your wonderful PM who is now out of the hospital he put himself into will bring Britain back to some former glory that the rest of the world has yet to be told of. Absolute shitshow is right. But it will go ahead and no bojo the hero has won the heart of millions again cos he managed to get through covid19. Wanker.

There does seem to be a great deal of in fighting in remaining EU countries, I wonder if Covid will be the end of the EU as it is anyway

GhostofFrankGrimes · 15/04/2020 07:19

The EU was supposed to have collapsed 4 years ago when every member state was going to lose its mind and follow the UK's lead...

Psychoseverywhere · 15/04/2020 07:19

Why on earth would anything be the end of the EU? You clearly voted for brexit and have not got a proper thought to yourself in your tiny brain if you think the EU is in any danger of. well.. what? Ending? Coming apart cos britain decided it wanted a divoce? Seriously covid, brexit, nothing will kill off the amazing unity of the EU so cop yourself on you utter plank.

Business can not withstand Brexit straight off the back of Covid-19. Some business were already teetering before this. The two combined back to back would result in the downturn of our economy that would make the Great Depression look more like the tiny bummer in comparison.

In any case I’m hopeful that’s the scale fell from the eyes of some of the mainstream Leavers seeing how Rees Mogg and Tim Martin (Whetherspoons) have shown how patriotic they really are. One profiteering from death and the other getting rid of staff and refusing to pay suppliers at the first opportunity. It was ever only about the rich being able to exploit the poor more easily.

In addition the Germans have handled the crisis so well that we should be cooperating with them more not less.

There’s no doubt though that the EU will struggle after this so maybe we should go back to the table as they will need our money. Maybe we could renegotiate to remain. They may be willing to end free movement or severely restrict it this time based on required skills of host country. If this was agreed, I have no doubt people would be happy for us to remain. I voted remain but FOM made me a reluctant remainer. Nevertheless I saw more economic and employment rights positives which swayed my vote to remain.

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2020 07:22

Ooh sqlsave looks good

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2020 07:23

Sorry, ignore

Psychoseverywhere · 15/04/2020 07:26

The Eu will struggle - ha arent you gas.BRITAIN will struggle and IS struggling under piss poor leadership already. Sure the EU wont need to fund you or take you back as your PM has signed a death warrant on the country. jesus what is wrong with you all? Britain was an absolute disgrace before brexit.

Theduchessstill · 15/04/2020 07:36

This virus will enable Johnson to ask for an extension without losing face and having to die in a ditch. Anyone who thinks it should still proceed, especially without a deal, is unhinged. Even Isabella Oakshott has said she's fine with an extension in these circumstances Shock.

Henrysmycat · 15/04/2020 07:40

@Psychoseverywhere I think I’m a bit of in love with you.
That’s exactly how I feel.

Neolara · 15/04/2020 07:44

I think the major worry should brexit happen in Jan would be further disruption to food distribution network Supermarkets have now got most food back on the shelves but checks at borders would lead to big shortages again due to our "just in time" supply system and probably higher prices. If this happens in combination with a new wave of CV, I think we'd be absolutely screwed.

PicsInRed · 15/04/2020 07:49

Brexit already happened.

The post-Brexit relationship is currently being negotiated by conference call, including with Michel Barnier.

Per Rishi Sunak, yesterday.

No, even the apocalypse won't undo Brexit.

Psychoseverywhere · 15/04/2020 07:49

@Henrysmycat sure someone eventually had to love me so thank you!

@Neolara you were already screwed from the second brexit was mentioned. YOu are already seeing food shortages and that can only get worse. You need nothing short of a miracle to pull back from covid 19 let alone brexit. I am in Ireland and hope to christ our borders stay closed off to britain for a very long time.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 15/04/2020 08:10

Ummm, i voted remain, and still would and don't want Brexit one bit. Even family who voted leave would now vote remain.

I can hope though surely?!
