Am actually gutted as they are my favourite clothes shops - aibu to think this is going to be the end of the highstreet? Can’t imagine Dorothy Perkins/ new look etc are far behind them. The end of fast fashion is no bad thing but it’s really shocking too

Aww gutted about Oasis! Sort of knew it was coming though, the last few times I’ve been in it’s just been me and two members of staff.

And I mostly leave empty handed now as I can’t quite justify their prices anymore, although I loved the clothes Sad

StCharlotte · 14/04/2020 20:31

Oh bugger. I've bought some lovely stuff from Oasis recently.

Notpanickingjustyet · 14/04/2020 20:32

@MrsFionaCharming isn't Lindy Bop quite a unique taste though? I'm sure I had a 50s style dress from there a few years ago...

Notpanickingjustyet · 14/04/2020 20:34

It's a shame. Used to love oasis and still looked at warehouse stuff very recently.
As pp said, didn't oasis go a few years back though?
Will we have to all resort to buying clothes online in the future? I can imagine quite a few not opening after this.

I really like Warehouse, but haven’t bought anything from Oasis in about ten years. I feel really sorry for the staff.

filka · 14/04/2020 20:46

It will cost the landlords much more in long-term empty property, no rent, more security costs etc. than just taking the risk of giving a rent holiday and trying to help their tenants survive.

Viviennemary · 14/04/2020 20:50

I don't think I have ever been in Oasis or Warehouse. Sad to see the end of Laura Ashley and Debenhams. Though I I've hardly been in Debenhams for years.

FreakStar · 14/04/2020 20:51

I think they'll find a buyer! It's the sort of brand that Next would buy.

SparkyBlue · 14/04/2020 20:52

I absolutely love Oasis. Their clothes always fit me well

HariboLectar · 14/04/2020 20:55

@Cattenberg there is a Lindy Bop buy & sell page on Facebook if you use it, so you haven't lost the opportunity completely.

TigerQueenie · 14/04/2020 20:56

The high street is dying a death because of shops selling shit quality clothing at inflated prices, when you consider folk can buy similar items from the likes of Primark or George for usually half the price.

People like to kid themselves that shops like Oasis are superior but they're really not.

BananaPlant · 14/04/2020 20:58

Oh no! I love Oasis and Warehouse.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 14/04/2020 21:00

I love Oasis too....bought 2 gorgeous tops in the Ipswich Debenhams back in February...both half price in the sale.

Crownofthorns · 14/04/2020 21:03

So sad :( I love Oasis and always have since I was in my late teens (am now 40). On a less selfish note my heart goes out to all the poor souls about to lose their jobs. Just terrible.

LakieLady · 14/04/2020 21:03

Warehoui find to be very hit and miss and seasalt is awful, middle class and middle aged

But us middle-class, middle-aged people need clothes, too, you know!

And their stuff is great quality. I've got a pair of Seasalt jeans that I've had for years, they seem to be indestructible.

PicsInRed · 14/04/2020 21:06

I don't shop there - but feel so desperately sorry for their furloughed employees. That must be heartbreaking and absolutely terrifying for them. What an appalling time to be made redundant.

DieSchottin93 · 14/04/2020 21:09

Oh no I love Oasis Sad I find them a tad overpriced but you can pick up some lovely stuff in their sales. I love their jeans and knitwear.

SellFridges · 14/04/2020 21:11

I love both of them. Will really struggle to know where to shop if they totally disappear. DH just pointed out that I buy a lot from Hush nowadays but Oasis are my absolute go to and a lower price point than Hush and Sosander. I must spend hundreds a year there. Staff were always helpful (and I actually worked there 20 years ago!)

TheMarbleFaun · 14/04/2020 21:19

And to pp saying they’ll only but second hand/ charity shops you do realise that someone has to buy and then donate the good stuff before you can get the bargain!

TheMarbleFaun · 14/04/2020 21:19

*buy

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 14/04/2020 21:27

I’m not surprised. I can’t remember the last time I went into an actual clothes shop.

Iamthewombat · 14/04/2020 21:27

Coast and Karen Millen will be next me thinks...

All the KM and coast shops closed last summer. Have you been asleep? Both live on (sort of) as Boohoo.com brands, in a cheap version of their former incarnations. Tragic.

DrManhattan · 14/04/2020 21:34

Never see anything good in Oasis and its well expensive. Do like warehouse though. I wonder who will be next?
Feel bad for the staff but there do seem to be alot of newer retailers coming up like urban outfitters etc

help1653 · 14/04/2020 21:35

Last time I tried to buy something from Oasis all the clothes had huge holes in from the security tags they had attached to everything in the shop. (In a large shopping centre.) Very strange.
