Am actually gutted as they are my favourite clothes shops - aibu to think this is going to be the end of the highstreet? Can’t imagine Dorothy Perkins/ new look etc are far behind them. The end of fast fashion is no bad thing but it’s really shocking too

Bugger, I have just ordered things from oasis. Will I get them? Will I be able to get a refund?

jackstini · 14/04/2020 19:50

Noooo - not Lindy Bop Sad

Don't buy much from Warehouse or Oasis now, but oh the teenage memories!

RhubarbTea · 14/04/2020 19:52

That's a real shame about Lindy Bop, I am also worried about Topshop as the only jeans I buy are from there...

purplecorkheart · 14/04/2020 19:53

I am sad about warehouse. I rediscovered them in the last 18 months or so. I find their quality and cut excellent for the price.

IamChipmunk · 14/04/2020 19:53

I like Oasis, lots of work dresses from there, usually in the sale. I used to wear a lot of Warehouse in the good old days!
Im also a Debenhams fan so really ssd about it all.
I had noticed a lot of brands going to Next and they were selling Oasis stuff amongst others. I wonder if they might take it as a consession.

SansaSnark · 14/04/2020 19:54

I don't think Oasis going under in and of themselves signals the end of the highstreet- I have had a couple of dresses from them over the years, but they're not a go-to brand for a lot of people.

But each shop that goes is another nail in the coffin, and the less variety on the highstreet, the more people look online.

Clothes are "try before you buy" but with free returns, you can do that trying in your own home easily enough.

LuluJakey1 · 14/04/2020 19:54

I think Seasalt are struggling but they are expensive for clothes that are quite limited in styles and range. They need to get past their mid-length sleeves on dresses and strange sleeves on rain jackets-too short, and old fashioned skirts and trousers. Some lovely prints but the cuts and styles are poor.

vanillandhoney · 14/04/2020 19:54

I didn't realise Oasis was still around - thought they went bust years ago!

I think a lot of high street retailers will go under. Where I used to work was really struggling prior to this - I doubt they'll survive it.

SharonasCorona · 14/04/2020 19:55

I don’t think I’ve ever bought he anything in Oasis. I’m sorry for the staff but I won’t even notice it’s gone.

CinnamonSweet73 · 14/04/2020 19:56

They are my two favourite shops so very sad to hear this.

OxanaVorontsova · 14/04/2020 19:57

Sad love warehouse for work stuff

ouch321 · 14/04/2020 19:59

I love Warehouse stuff, it's a step up from New Look/H&M etc but not as 'out there' or youth orientated as Topshop.

Oasis is ok but not as good as Warehouse in my opinion.

At this rate there will be no clothes stores left.

5-10 years ago for example, Topshop, the bees knees of clothing retail, would never ever send you a voucher code. Past few years I've started getting them so even they aren't safe.

I honestly can't think which clothing retailer is doing really well and is 'safe'.

Well Sports Direct is going well but other than that. Primark.

???

MissEliza · 14/04/2020 20:00

I've been buying from both Oasis and Warehouse since I was a teenager but in recent years I've found them to be quite boring and 'samey'.

Highonpotandused · 14/04/2020 20:03

Shit, I put in a £250 order with Debenhams on the weekend!

I see they’re still running their online business but I have my doubts if they’ll deliver my order.

Happy0 · 14/04/2020 20:07

I'm not too surprised at Oasis. They were always my go to for jeans, brought them for 10 years+ until same price £45 but the quality was awful! Never brought again.
Very sad about Linda Bop; their stuff was very good and ok value for money

bettybattenburg · 14/04/2020 20:07

I love Seasalt so I hope not 😢

Jollypolly999 · 14/04/2020 20:08

Boohoo and pretty little thing will take its place....😬 I think I'll start shopping in charity shops then!

I'm sure Oasid and Warehouse were having financial issues before all this kicked off? Coast and Karen Millen will be next me thinks...

Blankscreen · 14/04/2020 20:08

I used to love warehouse but it went off the boil imo about 10 years ago but in the last couple of years seem to have been on its way back.

I think oasis was stuck in the past tbh. There was one in the town where I work and last time i walked past it was one mass.sale and I thought it didn't look like it had long.

SonjaMorgan · 14/04/2020 20:09

It is a shame but I only feel bad for the workers who will lose their jobs. Most high street clothing is overpriced fast fashion, similar in quality to Primark. I have been trying to only buy secondhand and from ethical brands for a few years. I hope people move more towards this and start appreciating well made clothing.

Jollypolly999 · 14/04/2020 20:12

They are still accepting orders @Highonpotandused, that's a good sign!

I did an order with house of Fraser for £300 before they went bust, the day I got my order it was announced they went into administration...I called.up my credit card company and they refunded me after I posted the items I didnt want back (need proof of purchase) but HoF didnt respond to whether they got my parcel back.

If you paid by credit card, you're covered for anything you dont want.

Cattenberg · 14/04/2020 20:13

I don’t know if it’s just the high street, Lindy Bop have just gone into administration, and they were online only.

Nooooo! I wanted one of their forties-style tea dresses, but I hesitated as I was dieting and didn’t know which size to get. Does anyone know if their dresses were own-brand or if they stocked other brands?

It’s sad about the other shops too. I think our local Debenhams is living on borrowed time.

Cattenberg · 14/04/2020 20:14

And I definitely don’t want Seasalt to go!

CheshireDing · 14/04/2020 20:20

Lindy Bop filed for administration mid December, so it’s not to do with cv.

Can’t say I remember the last time I shopped on Warehouse or Oasis, Shame for the staff though.

onanothertrain · 14/04/2020 20:24

Warehoui find to be very hit and miss and seasalt is awful, middle class and middle aged but I love oasis. I'm gutted.

MoltoAgitato · 14/04/2020 20:24

Ah crap, I love Oasis.
