I've gotten the password scam email now too!

I had been feeling smug.
It states the first part of my Hotmail account and my password.
As others have mentioned, it's an old password that I haven't used in many years.
Where are they getting this blooming info from and why only use it now?
I can't think of any website where I used this password recently.
For it to be so prevalent, I'm wondering whether it's either a MN breech or a FB breech?
I got it to my Hotmail account. I'm pretty sure I don't have the same password on anything else now. Certainly not bank accounts.
Mine came from an Evonne Sheih. I haven't clicked into the email and have reported it as phishing to Hotmail/Outlook.

It's a little worrying all the same as it's not a password that you could guess.

There's tons of password dumps on the darkweb. They could have got it from anywhere.

They assume that people are stupid about passwords which they are.

They assume people rarely change them (the majority don't).

They assume you will then panic and think 'oh my god they have my details, I'd better do as they say'.

They rely only on people panicking and giving them bank details.

Delete and ignore.

The only reassuring thing is that it's 5 years ago since I've used that password.
