I am heartily sick of the doom and gloom reporting. The deaths are stablising (if you can say such a thing) and they are now wallowing on the state of the economy once the lockdown is over.

I am sick and tired of it. Little stories about someone running around their garden to raise money for charity but come on. Do they really want us to give up and not even try and get back to normal. I am still working, my DH company has been stopped dead in its tracks but we will get over this.

AIBU?

We cannot ignore the other issues and illnessess and it seems it is all about Covid 19 and cancer treatments, DV, school exams being cancelled has all been forgotten.

I don't understand your post, OP. You say you're heartily sick of the doom and gloom then say we can't ignore the other issues and illnesses and point out other things that have been forgotten that look like different doom and gloom.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 14/04/2020 14:34

With the exception of the heartbreak experienced by the bereaved, in a few years time this will be a dim and distant memory to most of us. (Do you remember when....).

This too shall pass.

RedPanda2 · 14/04/2020 14:35

There are 3000 other channels to choose from OP. Surely you could just....turn over?

Lemonblast · 14/04/2020 14:36

You do realise watching the news isn’t mandatory?

Pinkdelight3 · 14/04/2020 14:41

There's never been more channels to choose from and plenty of other outlets for news and entertainment online. They're doing their jobs, reporting on the top stories. Watch something else as you please. YABU.

sunglasses123 · 14/04/2020 16:00

Its me then isnt it! I know, maybe I should just update myself once a day. I work from home now and have the news on in the background.

Stop watching the news. Having 24/7 access to all the doom and gloom in the world is really unhealthy.

Wannabangbang · 14/04/2020 16:32

I've stopped watching the news for this very reason, i just can't cope mentally with what we are all facing. I check the daily toll online but that's it i just can't function once I've watched too much news.

I get your point but the best thing is to watch something else and submerge yourself in a book, craft, self care etc

But don't expect the news to stop because unfortunately people are dying and some people want to know what's going on

MouthBreathingRage · 14/04/2020 17:11

@sunglasses123, sorry where is your evidence that the deaths are stabilising? Last I checked the numbers are going up, never mind the hidden ones.

ilovesooty · 14/04/2020 17:14

Would you like the economic impact on other people's jobs not to be acknowledged because you think you're going to be ok?
