Is anyone else watching this?! He is literally ranting like a man possessed, I've never seen anything like it. He's declared war on the media (I know we're used to him lashing out at journalists but this is on another level)

I'm watching it on CNN and they have breaking news straplines like "Trump uses task force briefing to rewrite history on coronavirus response", "Angry Trump turns briefing into propaganda session" and "Angry Trump uses propaganda video, produced by government employees at taxpayers' expense"

He has just said, verbatim: "When somebody is President of the United States, that authority is total"

I thought our daily briefings were bullshit Shock

I wonder if there ever I'll be a true life film made of the Trump presidency LakieLady? I'd watch that, though I imagine there could a be a number of versions depending on the pov if the film makers.

LakieLady · 14/04/2020 18:03

@Makeitgoaway, I suspect that it would be impossible to make a "true life" movie about him because his reality is just ... unreal.

And I can't begin to imagine who you'd cast as Trump. He's almost a living caricature, so to make him true [to] life would seem like a crazy exaggeration. Alec Baldwin would make it seem too much like a pisstake.

PigletJohn · 14/04/2020 21:21

His fans seem to love him.

AnnofPeeves · 14/04/2020 22:15

Today's jaw dropping conference will be starting shortly. From the rose garden today for a change of scenery.

IDoNotHaveABlackCat · 14/04/2020 22:35

Shrug. America is a democracy. They elected him and now they get to reap what they sewed.

Only the Americans can do anything about it.

Klonda · 14/04/2020 22:38

Not a particularly good democracy though. As trump himself acknowledged rexenrly9, if they actually let everyone vote, the Republicans wouldn't have a hope.

StoneofDestiny · 14/04/2020 22:44

He was, is and always will be a thicko Bawbag. He is behaving as he always did. Scary this eejit has the authority to press the red button under his flabby hand. Nut job with nut job supporters.

KrakowDawn · 14/04/2020 22:45

It's ok stone- those hands are too small to press that big red button... Wink

KenAdams · 14/04/2020 22:48

Eagerly awaiting to see if he's a bit more together today or not.

IDoNotHaveABlackCat · 14/04/2020 22:48

Again if the Americans don't like their form of democracy it is up to them to change it.

I think Scott Morrison is a dickhead who couldn't find his arse with both hands. But my fellow Australians saw fit to elect him. So it is on me as an Australian to do something about it if I feel strongly enough.

Like the US though we are a Federation where power is not all in one place. Our Premiers have on the whole been outstanding and Scotty has mostly shut up and got the cheque book out. Which is what we need from him.

Who knows the majority of Americans might like Trump's approach. That I think he is a fucking moron is irrelevant.

AuldAlliance · 14/04/2020 22:52

What time is it meant to start?

user1471565182 · 14/04/2020 22:54

DarkDarkNight in the US the president is head of state (equivalent to our Queen) and as well as the increased powers this has its traditional for the first lady to have certain position which trump supposedly gave to his daughter instead, but you're right, they've gone way too far with it.

The US for years has prided itself on its supposed 'checks and balances' and strong democracy, whilst these last 4 years have shown that to be complete and utter bullshit. There is really nothing stopping tyranny. Up until now its all been convention and relying on those elected to have decency to hold it together, and now the most indecent man on the planet is there.

They took pride in the fact they took their system from the Roman republic, without taking a moment to realise the Roman Republic was endlessly on the brink and at civil war. It even had steps in place to make dictatorship easier to achieve.

user1471565182 · 14/04/2020 22:55

And as for the electoral college, how the hell is that racket allowed in a supposedly civilised nation?

PickAChew · 14/04/2020 23:02

Sowed. You sew fabric and sow crops.

Though the American public have been well and truly stitched up.

Desmondo2016 · 14/04/2020 23:15

Omg today's briefing is live on bbc now. Let's see what car crash he creates tonight!

Desmondo2016 · 14/04/2020 23:16

This is cringesome. He sounds like he's barely got two braincells to rub together

Triglesoffy · 14/04/2020 23:23

Why is he declaring war on the WHO?

ScreamingKid · 14/04/2020 23:23

What fascinates me about Trump is just how fragile his ego is. He really cannot bear to be criticised and responds with aggression every time. His ability to believe what he says is right is astonishing.

JumboSausage · 14/04/2020 23:25

Wth!

KrakowDawn · 14/04/2020 23:26

Why is he declaring war on the WHO?
Because unlike China, WHO cannot fight back militarily.

KenAdams · 14/04/2020 23:30

Because the numbers in the US are bad and he needs someone else to blame.

Triglesoffy · 14/04/2020 23:37

Did anyone watch Father Ted, Kicking Bishop Brennan Up The Arse Part One, football match? Father Ted with the fake arms?

I took this photo a few minutes ago. It looks like Trump has fake arms. Do you think someone has a little machine and is standing behind him, operating him?

Desmondo2016 · 14/04/2020 23:42

I'm really struggling to establish if he's actually finished a sentence so far with any kind of actual meaning. He goes off on a tangent. Why am I feeling so personally annoyed at him? They guy's a total Muppet and I'm actually physically cringing here. The fact he POTUS is just baffling. He genuinely comes across as a brain-dead moron
