To wonder how the heck i have caught whatever i have

Low grade fever, scratchy throat, fuzzy head, dry eyes.

I have been locked down for over 4 weeks working from home and family have been home. No shops-DH has been once a week. A few small deliveries. I have washed hands on handling anything that has come in the house like post etc. Family have been going out for walks occasionally in the quiet streets nearby. I have been for one walk on friday, spoke to noone. A runner came past me within 1 metre. That is the only time i have been near anyone outside my family for 4 weeks.

Could i have the dreaded 'rona? And even if i havent, how have i caught whatever cold or bug this is. Its not fair!

Hayfever?

poppym12 · 13/04/2020 22:33

Apart from the fever I'd say possibly hayfever?

Smidge001 · 13/04/2020 22:33

Probably hay-fever.

Keeva2017 · 13/04/2020 22:34

I have the same but without temp. Def not hayfever. 2 shopping trips in 4 weeks, nothing else. Feel drained and tired that sleep doesn’t help.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 13/04/2020 22:34

I'm guessing from your dh's weekly trip to the shops. Hope you get well soon.

Stevienickssleeves · 13/04/2020 22:35

And, and, when the runner went past i was wearing my homemade face mask which is 2 layers of cotton, tightly fitting.

I’m sick of runners. They’re banned in Spain. I wish they were here too. Makes me too nervous to go out - too much panting and too much potential virus breath.

TheReluctantCountess · 13/04/2020 22:37

It could well be hay fever.

Mind you, I don’t think a cotton mask will offer 100% protection from a virus.

Davespecifico · 13/04/2020 22:40

Would you have a temp with hay fever?

Ilovemyhairbeingstroked · 13/04/2020 22:41

It sounds a lot like hayfever , I have been suffering just like you for the past five years , and I get a temp too , not all the time but a lot of the time . Obviously keep an eye incase , but the pollen count was very high over the weekend .

happinessischocolate · 13/04/2020 22:43

Sounds like hay fever to me, I get a temperature too, I think it's part of my body's reaction

Stevienickssleeves · 13/04/2020 22:44

I am assuming fever, just to annoyingly drip feed. I feel hot but i have no way to measure other than keep trying to get family to feel me, with answers varying from 'you do feel hot yeah' to 'cant feel anything nah' which is uber helpful.

I am oscillating between being a little bit scared and feeling like a pathetic wuss.

Might not be a virus at all. Could be a bacterial infection you picked up at home or in the garden.

MrsToothyBitch · 13/04/2020 22:45

Could be hayfever? I get fever/temperature and fuzzy head with hayfever, air pressure and sinus woes.

Fimofriend · 13/04/2020 22:46

Another vote for hayfever

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 13/04/2020 22:46

Don’t fucking talk to me about inconsiderate runners! I took my youngest (24, SN and vulnerable) out for a walk for the first time in six weeks and this prick ran across the road and would have joined us on the path, had I not shouted “no!” and stuck my hand out to pint at him. I think it was the luck of absolute fury on my face that stopped him, but he still had the cheek to look offended. To be fair, most runners around here are very considerate and run on tin the road, but I always step we’ll back for them too and we normally give each other a friendly wave.

I really hope it’s just hay fever or an ‘ordinary’ bug, OP. It’s the fact that running makes the breath much deeper and the air is expelled further, that worries me.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 13/04/2020 22:46

Yep sounds like Hayfever

You can get stuffy sinuses which give you a low grade fever. The scratchy throat and dry irritated eyes also are classic symptoms.

A nasal spray along with antihistamine tablet will help calm the sinuses and bring the temp down over time.

Stevienickssleeves · 13/04/2020 22:46

Hayfever lobby i am really grateful and i hope to be feeling like a schmuck in a day or two when it rains if my symptoms vanish.

I just remembered reading, yesterday, that they were expecting the highest pollen count in 50yrs, so I imagine that those not normally affected, might be now. Have you any allergy tablets in the house?

Babyroobs · 13/04/2020 22:47

Anyone going out of the house can be a potential carrier with no symptoms I guess.

Stevienickssleeves · 13/04/2020 22:48

Well done totallyfucked, perfect handling of that situation. In admiration Flowers

Are you cleaning your shopping with mild bleach? Said on the tv last week shopping can carry the virus.

Krisskrosskiss · 13/04/2020 22:49

How young are your children? Hate to say it but cleaning poo off small children can sometimes give you bacterial infections...
Also have you been cleaning more than usual? If you've been deep cleaning areas you dont clean that often you mightve got a bacterial infection... or xpuldve got an allergic reaction to dust or paint etc!

Stevienickssleeves · 13/04/2020 22:49

I have some piriton in a kitchen cupboard so i will neck em now, wish me luck
