To wonder how the heck i have caught whatever i have

Low grade fever, scratchy throat, fuzzy head, dry eyes.

I have been locked down for over 4 weeks working from home and family have been home. No shops-DH has been once a week. A few small deliveries. I have washed hands on handling anything that has come in the house like post etc. Family have been going out for walks occasionally in the quiet streets nearby. I have been for one walk on friday, spoke to noone. A runner came past me within 1 metre. That is the only time i have been near anyone outside my family for 4 weeks.

Could i have the dreaded 'rona? And even if i havent, how have i caught whatever cold or bug this is. Its not fair!

I'm another saying hay fever - I'm 37 and never had it in my life until the last couple of weeks!

SpokeTooSoon · 13/04/2020 23:48

I think my hay fever began today.

barnabybenny · 13/04/2020 23:58

My hayfever is awful at the moment, mine is from tree pollen. My eyes are dry and my throat hurts, today I’ve also had a migraine. It could definitely be hayfever.

TSSDNCOP · 13/04/2020 23:59

My hay fever went crazy yesterday, totally nothing today. I don't get a fever with it though.

First step: antihistamine

Qgardens · 13/04/2020 23:59

Me too. Heavy chest and a cough. Worse today.

Weirdomagnet · 14/04/2020 00:04

I've been asking the exact same thing of myself today OP. Well not exactly- I have been for almost daily walks (jogger's projectile breath galore) and to the shop a fair few times.

But I have overwhelming exhaustion, achey bones & joints, and dry eyes like never before. None of those Corona symptoms, admittedly. But unexplained.

Very odd- hope you feel better soon, anyway!

Ugzbugz · 14/04/2020 00:51

Hayfever, mine makes me feel so unwell I often have to go to bed,I have the classic sneezing,.sniffing blocked nose then I am freezing and burning hot, its exhausting and I've taken time of work due to it over the years, I have had to nap several times over the bank holiday as have felt so bad due to hayfever

aintnothinbutagstring · 14/04/2020 01:08

We went out for a walk today, DH and ds started with runny nose and constant sneezing on return. We live in a very leafy area, so hopefully its hayfever. I also work in a supermarket, currently we're selling more hayfever tablets than cold/cough remedies.

Littleposh · 14/04/2020 01:37

I don't want to make you feel worse about this but my hay fever gets much worse when it rains!!

Theresnobslikeshowb · 14/04/2020 07:25

Another vote for heyfever- Friday, Saturday and Sunday I really struggled. Sent ds out to get me some antihistamines and felt so much better.

Kitsmummy · 14/04/2020 07:46

@weirdomagnet those are absolutely COVID symptoms. My partner was hospitalised and tested as COVID and his main symptoms were exhaustion, total aching bones and freezing chills. Be aware that you almost certainly have it!

EdwardsNewJumper · 14/04/2020 09:23

Hi OP, this is exactly how I feel. Constantly tired, a bit headachy, scratchy throat, bit of a temp.

I think it maybe it can affect us all in very different ways as I'm pretty sure we have had virus though, weeks back, before lockdown. I was mildish, DP terrible, scarily bad.

Second Kitsmummy, we were ill with those symptoms, worse for DP who had really bad lungs/breathing too. My lungs were ok but I had the loss of smell/taste thing.

DP, after the horrible ten days has improved slowly, each day.

I haven't, I've felt low level rubbish, just as you describe. Sort of plateaued in this inbetween not bad but not great. Think lockdown is masking how crappy I feel, I think if I had to get up and go to work every day instead of WFH I'd be floored.

I've never had hayfever so really don't think it's that. It's the constant feeling of having a bit of a temperature, scratchy sore throat. I just can't throw it off, into week five now. Like I said, I don't know, but think the virus could be affecting us all in different ways.

Theharderiwork · 14/04/2020 09:47

Yes sounds like Hayfever.

Quick update, I was being a bit flippant yesterday but it got to that hour of night when things are genuinely scary.

I still feel shitty but its in my sinuses today, so now firmly not in the coronavirus symptom area and even though i don't normally suffer from hay fever i am fairly sure that is what's the matter with me.

Op I’ve been wondering similar.

We’ve stuck to the lockdown religiously - dh goes out once a week for essentials and is very careful. We do go out to exercise - but never anywhere near people. We live next to a golf course which is now open to public and deserted - no gates or anything else that we touch and we stay far further than 2m away from anyone.

HOWEVER since the weekend I’ve come out with a stinking cold. Definitely not CV or hay fever - just your bog standard snotty cold.

But...how? Who have I caught it from?

Likethebattle · 14/04/2020 10:57

Sounds like hay fever mostly. Apart from the fever, have you taken your temp to confirm you definitely have a fever?

Oldraver · 14/04/2020 11:21

Ive had hayfever for years and yes this year more sneezing despite ant-histimines, though not unusual for a bad year

But ....yes Ive had an intermittant scratchy throat for weeks comes up then goes away. Never associated it with hayfever

Stevienickssleeves · 14/04/2020 11:46

Cerise, that was exactly my thinking

As others have said hay fever. Tree pollen is bad right now. We were in the garden on Sunday and I thought someone was having a fire, it was pollen coming off a nearby tree!!

midnightstar66 · 14/04/2020 11:54

Either hayfever or one of your or your families trips out
