AIBU to expect hospital appointment to be cancelled

Just as the title says.

I thought my hospital appointment in 2 1/2 weeks would have been cancelled by now . It's nothing urgent ,it's a yearly clinic for a disorder that can't really be helped until I have an accident /need surgery.

Cancel it if you're concerned.

I would expect it to take place, unless the person doing it gets sick.

Not all NHS are dealing with Coronavirus, many others are just getting on with their normal departments and clinics.

It's unlikely you will attend the hospital. In my area we are trying to do consultations by phone or vc instead rather than cancel appointments.

ExclamationPerfume · 13/04/2020 12:52

Our hospital are only ringing about a week before to arrange telephone consultations.

I have an ent appointment later this month which is being done by phone.

Readytogogogo · 13/04/2020 16:02

As PP say, likely to be by phone. You can call up the relevant outpatient department to check.

GrumpyHoonMain · 13/04/2020 16:04

My hospital is keeping all hospital appointments as they wouldn’t have been made unless there was a need. The Coronavirus section is seperate and staffed by completely different people.

wannabeadored · 13/04/2020 16:53

I think I'll give them a ring this week.

It would be pretty pointless to do a telephone call, I'm guessing , as it's blood related .

My hospital cancelled my operation precisely 2 weeks ahead... I think you should wait... It is still early to enquire... Wait till 10days at least. Their lines r busy

bakebeans · 13/04/2020 17:52

Some departments are doing telephone consultations instead. I would wait to see if they contact you

I emailed my consultant as I’m due treatment next week.

They said it’s essential treatment but the main hospital is for COVID only at the moment so I’m to go to one of the other hospitals in the city instead as they’ve moved all treatment out of the main hospital.

Makes sense.
