It's idiotic because:
A it was already a symbol of GAY. GAY GAY GAY ok?
B it's other symbolism is of some happy place that doesn't really exist, ie the crock of gold (crock of shit more like).

I think you forgot about C, the relevant symbolism in this context, as a sign that difficult times will end and normality will return. I'm not a Christian but I have heard the story of Noah's Ark and God putting the rainbow in the sky to reassure the people that the rain will always stop and he'll never flood the earth and almost wipe out humankind again. That's where it comes from.

PuffinShop · 17/04/2020 00:05

The rainbow has certainly been a symbol of hope and comfort in difficult times for a lot longer than it's been a symbol of "GAY" at any rate.

Veg

I hate the word veg
Just say vegetables.

‘NHS heroes’
There are some heroes in the NHS, and in other countries’ medical services too. I also encountered some lazy entitled gits in the NHS when my dad was dying a few years ago.

But this isn’t the time to be saying it.

trixie1970 · 17/04/2020 22:36

I agree with Jeremypaxo.....it really winds me up when I hear on adverts that we are to "Stay home"! It's stay AT home, for heaven's sake! Grrrrr!!!!

trixie1970 · 17/04/2020 22:39

Also agree with alwayshappy...I hate the word veg. And even worse is veggies!

Stay safe

Said by fellow NHS nurse colleague who has been off sick since the start of this and has no intention of returning until this is over. Has never worked a full 6 months in the 7 years I've worked with her we will never forget that you dropped us all in the shit you skiving cow

EmpressLangClegInChair · 18/04/2020 10:32

Anything about how this will hopefully lead to working from home becoming more common. For people who like it, great, but I don’t want to WFH. I want to go to my office, spend the day with my colleagues & meet friends for drinks / go to yoga class afterwards.

I hope that in future we can go back to any of us having rainbows on clothes etc. without people assuming it's a statement about LGBT.

This. I’m a lesbian, I used to love the rainbow as an LGB symbol but it’s been utterly hijacked by the LGBTQQIAA++ alphabet soup bollocks.
