The people who get their kicks from taking the piss out of people who are different to them.

The people who take advantage of every opportunity to undermine or make a joke out of your appearance or your actions.

Now everyone is stuck indoors and communicating online, the undermining can be taken to a whole new level.

AIBU to be sick of feeling like a child being made fun of in the playground given the extraordinary times we live in at moment or should I just accept that people react to challenging times differently and sometimes lash out at other people?

I suppose it depends on the circumstances. I don't have anyone like that in my life because I choose to live my life in a way most likely to make me happy. I avoid comments sections and I step away from threads that are turning into an argument.

I mostly feel a bit sorry for anyone who needs to slag off appearances or whatever, it's very silly.

Who are these people? Why are you interested in their opinion?

Maybe it's an age thing - 10 years ago, such people might have bothered me. Now I would just shrug.

Avoiding the people who do this is a good option.
The people are at work and unfortunately ignoring them makes them worse because they want to get a rise out of people.

It is very silly though and should be ignored, I guess doing the opposite of what they expect serves the purpose of keeping calm and not giving them what they want.

If it's work, that's definitely difficult. I'm not sure exactly the circumstances so it's hard to give advice.

Ignore or verbally shrug - a well placed "I don't understand" or "what do you mean?" forcing them to explain or back down usually shows them up as the dickheads they are.

Just pity them, they must feel very insecure.

Try changing your perspective. These people are nothing to you. Focus on you work and ignore the rest. None of it matters.
