I'm a primary school teacher on Easter Holidays still, This week I'm doing 3 days a week in school looking after key worker children from 8-6.
Today I've been working since 7am - currently having a lunch break as need to feed my children who are entertaining themselves, ok for the 14 and 16 year old but bit rubbish for the 8 year old.
I have spent all morning adapting the topic plans so it is accessible for the children I teach, who have limited access to technology, no access to printers and some don't have the parental support either, I've made most of the learning practical - last thing I want is to have 10 year olds plonked in front of screens for hours. Hopefully the learning is fun so it will engage them and they will want to do it.
We have sent out timetables so each day they have a maths, literacy and topic activity with reading, times tables practice and spelling practice. The majority of the activities are practical and something the children should be able to do independently whilst hopefully having fun.
We will not be doing live teaching as most of the children won't access it as school covers a deprived area. Also I don't have an Interactive white board or other teaching aids in my house!! PowerPoints being shown are assuming families can access Microsoft office.
All children have been given a book to do the work in to hand in on return to school as again very few households have the facilities to scan work back to us. We have told children they can email photos of them doing their learning to share on school website.
I've also got school reports to write and assessment data for the school year up to the point we stopped teaching. I've reviewed and set new PLP plans for the SEN children in my class, I've set differentiated learning packs for these children.
Some parents probably think I'm not working hard enough but in these 2 weeks holidays I've had 4 days off with my family ( Easter Weekend)
AGAIN IVE DONE ALL OF THIS IN THE 2 WEEK SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
The 2 weeks before I was either in school looking after key worker children or trying to set home learning work at short notice.
