Friend who boasts

Howfar12 · 11/04/2020 16:58

So, I know someone, not really a friend but you know what I mean, who constantly posts pictures of the inside of their car, jewellery etc. For the clap they had to say that “my estate” all took part. Someone asked her what most expensive jewellery is and she posted the answer on her story. AIBU to feel that there’s no real need for this. AIBU to confront her. What should I say?

Confront her about what? You would just sound jealous

Thighmageddon · 11/04/2020 17:03

I think maybe you should come off social media or unfriend her at the very least.

Jellycatismyspiritanimal · 11/04/2020 17:04

Just unfollow her Hmm

RhymingRabbit3 · 11/04/2020 17:04

Not really much point in confronting her. Shes not going to agree that shes done anything wrong and it will just make you look petty and jealous. Just unfollow her on Facebook and forget about it.

CircleofWillis · 11/04/2020 17:04

Not sure what is boastful about saying 'my estate'. Unless she is the owner of a manor house with tied cottages 😁

TDL2016 · 11/04/2020 17:05

Ignore her maybe, if she’s happy about posting that sort of stuff leave her to it. Nothing to confront about in my opinion.

Howfar12 · 11/04/2020 17:06

Thanks, maybe I’m just insecure

“Confront her”

Maybe you need to step away from reality tv? Not every thought that enters your head needs to be aired.

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 11/04/2020 17:08

my estate

That us about as unboastful as you can get surely?

Howfar12 · 11/04/2020 17:08

The fact that she could just say her neighbours. No one cares that she lives in an estate - it’s just another way for her to show how minted she is

Angeldelight68 · 11/04/2020 17:09

You sound jealous and petty. Just unfollow her and maybe grow up

HealingCalmingSoothing · 11/04/2020 17:10

Where I am from estate would refer to a council estate. Is that a boast where you are?

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 11/04/2020 17:10

it’s just another way for her to show how minted she is

You have lost me why is living on an estate a sign of being minted. It is the opposite surely?

Thighmageddon · 11/04/2020 17:10

Living on an estate in no way says someone is 'minted'.

We live on an estate and there's a huge mix of incomes here.

Most new estates are a mix of mortgaged and social housing properties anyway.

LellyMcKelly · 11/04/2020 17:10

You’re going to tell someone what they can and can’t post on their own social media pages? Are you on glue?

WombatStewForTea · 11/04/2020 17:10

The fact that she could just say her neighbours. No one cares that she lives in an estate - it’s just another way for her to show how minted she is

See when I read estate I pictured council estate not country house estate

NinetySixer · 11/04/2020 17:11

I’m not sure how living on an ‘estate’ shows how minted she is.

Estates cover a huge range of housing. The minted people I know wouldn’t dream of living on an estate.

Howfar12 · 11/04/2020 17:12

Okay, I’m overreacting, my mistake. Thanks for making me realise this

bubblesforlife · 11/04/2020 17:14

You clearly don't like her, maybe even a little jealous? But she's not good for you, unfollow her or hide her posts/stories. You will be the better for it.

Looneytune253 · 11/04/2020 17:14

'My estate' screams council to me 😂 (I live in the midst of a council estate in case anyone thinks I'm being unkind haha)

IFancyANamechange · 11/04/2020 17:15

Yeah I’m with PPs.

Where I come from the estate would be where the non ‘minted’ people live.

OlaEliza · 11/04/2020 17:18

'My estate' conjures up images of kidulthood etc, to me Confused

Emcont · 11/04/2020 17:19

Isn't estate like council estate?
