At least some groups of States are united together.

Here is Kamala Harris on inequality and the pandemic:

Just a small thing - did anyone else spot Trump sending "warm condolences " the other day? Clearly his stock of "empathetic things to say" got in a twist.

lionheart · 20/04/2020 20:45

He cannot manage warmth or empathy.

That Daily Beast article is behind a paywall. Sounds interesting though - can you quote the best bits? Am now addicted to the briefings, i just sit there with my jaw dropped.

Kentucky's increase in infected individuals comes after protesters took to the streets throughout the week to call for the state to be reopened.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/04/2020 22:03

Sparkly, he's always used the phrase 'warm condolences', it's nothing new. From a plane crash to a mass shooting to John McCain's death he's always sent his 'warm condolences'. Just shows how emotionally ignorant he is. Not to mention not having a grasp of commonly used phrases. He'd probably also say "deepest congratulations", except he never congratulates anyone but himself.

lionheart · 20/04/2020 22:30

Sparkly

''He started the week with claims of “total authority” and then cried about a supposed mutiny by mouthy state leaders. By Friday, he was up to calls to “liberate” states.

Who does he want people to rise up against, exactly: People who don’t want to die? People who don’t want protesters spreading a deadly disease that’s already killed 34,000 Americans? Governors who swore an oath to serve their states and protect their citizens? Science? Medicine?

Whatever the enemy, the Trump horde is lurching toward it with protests “breaking out” in state capitals across the land filled with MAGAmericans clad in their Red Badge of Credulity hats and carrying the banners of Esoteric Trumpism. Events in Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and California have popped up in the last 36 hours, with more on the way.'

'The first Civil War was against the vilest institution imaginable: a war to end a regime that treated humans as property, and waged at a horrific, bloody cost. Trump’s cosplayed civil war is against science, medicine, healthy public policy, and the desire to not have millions of Americans die in a preventable and shockingly resilient plague.

He wants his rebellion because it feeds into his brand of transgression and he believes it will benefit him politically; Donald Trump’s never tried to liberate a damn thing in his life except for banks from their money, porn stars from their panties, and rubes from their votes.

Let’s be clear about the things he’s going to do and the risks he is willing to take with the American people. Trump is telling us bluntly and plainly that he will stoke civil unrest to find a political pathway out of a galactic-scale fuck-up of his own making. He’s willing to let a disease that’s already killed 33,000 Americans due to his inaction and dishonesty spread further, faster, and more widely.'

Thanks for that, lion.

Wow, I didn't realise his condolences were usually warm Hmm

I watched the News last night on the 24hr BBC channel for a while as there was nothing else on, and they went to Trump live for his press briefing. I could only stomach so much...

It really is to feed his ego and the fact he can't have Rallies, isn't it? I wonder when he'll say they can go ahead again?

I am sick to death of him saying the US have tested more people than any country in the world. That is a massive whopper of a lie.

Tests per million pop... 12,100 US.

Spain, Italy and Germany far more at 20,000 plus per million.

Trouble is people believe this lie.

Today he has Andrew Cuomo coming to the WH. Should be interesting...

Trump says he will impose immigration ban in bid to tackle coronavirus
US president is accused of ‘xenophobic scapegoating’ with tweet announcing executive order

Trump says he will issue order to suspend immigration during coronavirus crisis, closing off the United States to a new extreme
www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/coronavirus-trump-immigration/2020/04/21/a2a465aa-837a-11ea-9728-c74380d9d410_story.html

President Trump announced in a tweet late Monday night that he plans to suspend immigration to the United States, a move he said is needed to safeguard American jobs and defend the country from coronavirus pandemic, which he called “the Invisible Enemy.”
“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!,” the president wrote, announcing the plan at 10:06 p.m.
Trump, who is running for reelection on his immigration record and his effort to build a wall on the Mexico border, has long been frustrated with the limits on his ability to seal off the United States by decree. An executive order suspending all immigration to the country would take the president’s impulses to an untested extreme.
Two White House officials said an executive order is being drafted and that Trump could sign it as soon as Tuesday. The order, which was discussed among senior staff members Monday, would suspend nearly all immigration under the rationale of preventing the spread of infection by foreigners arriving from abroad.

It’s not really been remarked on enough that governors are regularly recording their calls with the president and other admin officials because they know Trump is going to lie about them and they need proof. This is not a normal thing.

Has Dr. Birx has partaken of the Koolaid?

Here's Dr. Birx on ABC echoing Trump's attacks on the WHO and saying "it wasn't until the beginning of March that we could all fully see how contagious this virus was." (This is false -- the CDC was warning coronavirus could cause "severe" disruption to American life in Feb.)

The speculation is that Trumpy is going to start tearing up green cards and throwing foreigners out. This could mean we'd have to take James Corden back, which is no joke.
