Oh, I don't know lion, you've never seen Aunt Trudy! 😜😜😜

AcrossthePond55 · 17/04/2020 21:07

Of course it could be worse.... It could be Crazy Uncle Scrotus flashing his drawers. That probably could kill you!!!

lionheart · 17/04/2020 21:53

I'm sure you're right and Aunt Trudy is best left to the imagination.

But the very mention of Trump's nether regions is enough to shrivel the soul.

Shock

So now it's found those who thought they didn't have to stay at home. Who would have thought...?

Heartland hotspots: A sudden rise in coronavirus cases is hitting rural states without stay-at-home orders

Anniegetyourgun · 18/04/2020 07:35

So he is actually, directly, encouraging the public to protest against lockdown regulations? The President of the United States is fomenting armed rebellion against state governments... well they didn't vote for him, so I suppose they're fair game. And of course if you asked him directly that isn't what he meant at all. In fact he didn't even say it. Anyone who claims to have seen it on Twitter is fake. But if he had said it it would have been justified because...

One madman could happen to anyone, but the bit my poor head can't get round is all those complete assholes in the Senate, nodding along, not caring for one moment what this is doing to their own country, without even the excuse of advanced dementia.

BruceAndNosh · 18/04/2020 10:21

Note that he didn't tweet LIBERATE OHIO or LIBERATE UTAH where there have also been big protests. Both these states have Republican Governors

lionheart · 18/04/2020 11:42

He and his enablers are deplorable.

He is trying to create civil unrest in order to punish the governors of democratic States.
The leader of the country is openly trying to destroy the country.
Is this real, can this really be happening?

Lweji · 18/04/2020 11:59

Shouldn't encouragement to overthrow (state) governments be an impeachable offense?

B1rdbra1n · 18/04/2020 12:01

When trump was elected everyone's mind went straight to 'oh no nuclear war' but then we reassured ourselves because we thought no one would be that mad, because 'mutually assured destruction'
But now he's trying to destroy America in a desperate attempt to save himself, they can all burn because he's worth it

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 18/04/2020 12:11

This is a nightmare. I can't do it any more (again). I've either got the dreaded virus or am having a panic attack from stress at reading about this and much else (I think it's probably the latter).

B1rdbra1n · 18/04/2020 12:43

I feel as if this has always been Trump's backup plan, if things got ugly he would create a situation where people turned on each other and he would use the chaos and confusion to make his escape in some way.
we might expect the captain to go down with the ship but actually he's escaping in a life raft whilst firing missiles at the ship

B1rdbra1n · 18/04/2020 12:44

(Not that being in a life raft whilst wielding a rocket launcher is a particularly safe situation)

TheNorthWestPawsage · 18/04/2020 13:01

Angry AngryAngry
This is what he's wanted all along - a war. Any war. It's all about him.

I despair at what's happened in the UK (Brexit divisions etc) but the USA is well and truly fucked.

Lweji · 18/04/2020 13:11

I don't know. Wars work for Presidents because people rally against a common enemy, and, usually, behind the President.
When the President encourages divisiveness, will it work in his favour?

B1rdbra1n · 18/04/2020 13:23

I think he understands that his only chance is to create as much chaos as possible so as to distract from his numerous failings, he is confident that he can control things, I guess he doesn't understand chaos theory too well

TheNorthWestPawsage · 18/04/2020 14:01

A war is his ultimate dead cat. Deflects attention off him and potentially gives him more 'big boy' powers.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 18/04/2020 14:06

... meant deflects attention off his crimes and cock/ups

Lweji · 18/04/2020 14:22

He's certainly the king of backtracking.
His total power comment didn't go down well with Fox and I'm sure his core electorate. State independence and less federal power is a major thing, as far as I know.
And while most cases so far have been in Democratic large cities, it's starting to become an issue in the red states too.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/04/2020 14:58

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom

Hey, there are many of us who've 'taken a break' for our mental health at different times. If it's seriously getting to be too much, let it go for a bit. No news, no thread, no politics. You don't need to be Atlas, the Earth isn't going to fall if you decompress.

We'll be here at least until 21 Jan 2021 (Inauguration Day) and you can 'pick us up' when you feel better.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/04/2020 15:07

In other news, Scrotus continues to define himself as a 'wartime president' fighting the 'invisible enemy'. Problem is, he doesn't realize that the virus is actually smarter than he is. Hell, an amoeba is smarter than he is.

And now he's fomenting rebellion. Yes, I think it normally would be an impeachable offense. But it's only 6.5 months til the election. There's no time for the House to do anything other than try and shine a bright light on his shenanigans. No that's too mild a word, on his madness.

If he were George III, we'd be having a regency about now. But because Scrotus is still 'serving his purpose' as far as the GOP is concerned they will continue to turn a blind eye and squash any dissent.

lionheart · 18/04/2020 15:49

A news and media rest is a really good idea Jai.

Sometimes tuning out is what you have to do to protect yourself.
