Not that I mind another investigation, but other than airing Scrotus' dirty Y-fronts to the American Public there's not time for anything 'concrete' to happen. But I guess the more fuel we can pile onto what I hope is his funeral pyre the better for Biden.

But the answer to the question is: "He knew nothing because he's too fucking stupid to understand a pandemic warning even if when it's written in letters 10 feet high and shoved under his fucking nose!".

B1rdbra1n · 14/04/2020 23:45

And because he's too preoccupied fantasizing about a threesome with Kim jong-un and and whoever his current other favorite dictator is

He always hits out:

edition.cnn.com/2020/04/14/politics/donald-trump-world-health-organization-funding-coronavirus/index.html

'(CNN)President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he is halting funding to the World Health Organization while a review is conducted.

Trump said the review would cover the WHO's "role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of coronavirus."
Trump's announcement comes in the middle of the worst global pandemic in decades and as he angrily defends his own handling of the outbreak in the United States.'

And takes:

'More than 80 percent of the benefits of a tax change tucked into the coronavirus relief package Congress passed last month will go to those who earn more than $1 million annually, according to a report by a nonpartisan congressional body expected to be released Tuesday.'

Icing on the cake.

In unprecedented move, Treasury orders Trump’s name printed on stimulus checks.
www.washingtonpost.com/politics/coming-to-your-1200-relief-check-donald-j-trumps-name/2020/04/14/071016c2-7e82-11ea-8013-1b6da0e4a2b7_story.html

The Treasury Department has ordered President Trump’s name be printed on stimulus checks the Internal Revenue Service is rushing to send to tens of millions of Americans, a process that could slow their delivery by a few days, senior IRS officials said.

The unprecedented decision, finalized late Monday, means that when recipients open the $1,200 paper checks the IRS is scheduled to begin sending to 70million Americans in coming days, “President Donald J. Trump” will appear on the left side of the payment.
It will be the first time a president’s name appears on an IRS disbursement, whether a routine refund or one of the handful of checks the government has issued to taxpayers in recent decades either to stimulate a down economy or share the dividends of a strong one.

Treasury officials disputed that the checks would be delayed.

While some people receiving the checks — the centerpiece of the U.S. government’s economic relief package to stave of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic — may not care, or observe, whose name appears on them, the decision is another sign of Trump’s effort to cast his response to the pandemic in political terms.

Trump had privately suggested to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who oversees the IRS, to allow the president to formally sign the checks, according to three administration officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

But the president is not an authorized signer for legal disbursements by the U.S. Treasury. It is standard practice for a civil servant to sign checks issued by the Treasury Department to ensure that government payments are nonpartisan.
The checks will instead bear Trump’s name in the memo line, below a line that reads, “Economic Impact Payment,” the administration officials said.

I'm not sure that people will look at the amount and the signature and fall on their knees in gratitude.

Hello all, just popping in, in reaction to this am’s announcement. How can anyone think that his ‘cult of the leader’ is in anyway compatible with anything claiming to call itself democracy? It’s straight out of North Korea.

How long do you think this attack on the WHO will last?

B1rdbra1n · 15/04/2020 11:20

It's probably one of his threats isn't it, his next move is to pivot and start bragging about how much he funds the world health organisation?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 15/04/2020 11:20

This old photo seems peculiarly apt.

Turns out he's already not paying what he's not going to pay...

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/15/trump-turns-against-who-to-mask-his-own-stark-failings-on-covid-19-crisis?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

The US is the WHO’s biggest donor, with funding over $400m a year in both assessed contributions (membership fees) and donations – though it is actually $200m in arrears.

Theoretically the White House cannot block funding of international institutions mandated by Congress. But the administration has found ways around such constitutional hurdles on other issues – by simply failing to disburse funds or apply sanctions, for example.

The funding could be formally rescinded, but that would require Senate approval, or “reprogrammed” by being diverted to another purpose that the White House could argue is consistent with the will of Congress.

“Whatever form it takes, this is a deeply shortsighted and dangerous decision - at any time, let alone during a ... pandemic,” said Alexandra Phelan, assistant professor at the Center for Global Health Science and Security at Georgetown University.

B1rdbra1n · 15/04/2020 12:06

Does the WHO need America more than America needs the WHO?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/04/2020 12:35

As usual, you can tell what Trump's fault is by looking at what he is accusing someone else of having got wrong.

Trump screwed up on the covid response; so he says that somebody else screwed up on the covid response.

It really is the pattern.

I mean... REALLY?? Is this legal? Isn't it electioneering?

Trump is having his name printed on rescue cheques. Like it's from him Hmm
It's delaying them going out too.

Is there anything he can't do?

He can shoot a man on 5th avenue and get away with it can't he...

AcrossthePond55 · 15/04/2020 17:17

TBH Roussette it makes DH and I want to burn that fucking cheque. Technically he can't 'sign' a govt cheque, it has to be signed by a Treasury Dept official. So they're putting his name on the 'memo line' on the left side. 🙄🙄🙄

A lot of people will be getting them via EFT because their bank info was on their return. People like DH and I who pay tax every year will be getting the paper cheque. As it is it's just going in savings as no one has made it clear whether or not people who normally pay taxes with their yearly return will have to pay it back next year.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 15/04/2020 17:50

And remember, as every New York contractor will tell you, cash any cheque with Trump’s name on it PDQ!

Shock ‘Beyond predatory’: Trump Treasury Department gives banks green light to seize $1,200 stimulus checks to pay off debts www.rawstory.com/2020/04/beyond-predatory-trump-treasury-department-gives-banks-green-light-to-seize-1200-stimulus-checks-to-pay-off-debts/

“The Treasury Department is pointing out opportunities for banks and debt collectors to steal Americans’ relief checks out from under them.”

President Donald Trump’s Treasury Department has given U.S. banks a green light to seize a portion or all of the one-time $1,200 coronavirus relief payments meant to help Americans cope with financial hardship and instead use the money to pay off individuals’ outstanding debts—a move consumer advocates decried as cruel and unacceptable.

“These payments are supposed to help individuals and families put food on the table during this crisis, not enrich debt collectors.”
—Maura Healey, Massachusetts Attorney General

AcrossthePond55 · 15/04/2020 19:43

In other words, use a person's 'bail out' payment to 'bail out' the bank. Fuck me, that's cruel.

Stupid is as stupid does.

'Lock her up!': Anti-Whitmer coronavirus lockdown protestors swarm Michigan Capitol.
Demonstrators were supposed to stay in their cars for social distancing. Not everyone did.
www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/lock-her-anti-whitmer-coronavirus-lockdown-protestors-swarm-michigan-capitol-n1184426

...Many ignored the demand. Demonstrators, on foot, were seen waving American, "Don't Tread on Me" and Trump campaign flags. At least two Confederate Flags were spotted.
Protesters could be heard chanting "Open up Michigan!" At one point, there was a "lock her up" chant in reference to Whitmer.
...
Speaking to Michigan NBC affiliate WOOD-TV, one woman attending suggested she didn't entirely trust the social distancing recommendations being made by "the so-called scientists" like Dr. Anthony Fauci, adding that she believes "very strongly in herd immunity."...
(My bold)
...
The organizers' Facebook page was flooded with comments, both in support and against the protest.

"Can people PLEASE stay in their cars, and if they get out, to wear masks and practice social distancing?" one Facebook user posted. "The statists will use any excuse to discredit the protest, so please don't give them a freebie."

"The guys on the steps of the (Capitol) are putting this protest backwards," another wrote. "Now we are going to be portrayed as far right extremist. Thanks allot jerks...Stay in your dam car and put the freaking rifles away...You're going to ruin this for everyone!"

'Donald Trump is threatening to use a never-before-employed power of his office to adjourn both chambers of Congress so he can make “recess appointments” to fill vacant positions within his administration he says Senate Democrats are keeping empty amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Trump opened his daily virus press conference on Wednesday by griping about Senate Democrats blocking tens of his nominees, alleging many otherwise would be working on virus-related efforts. He offered few specifics, however, on how the federal virus response might be different if a substantial amount of those individuals had been approved by the upper chamber.'

There's a Portuguese expression for an undetermined colour.
It's "the colour of a fleeing ass", which I think is very apt for Trump.
