I imagine he has done it ALL his life Bruce right from when he was at school. Some people are just like that, it's never their fault and they're happy when blaming someone else. I doubt he has ever said a heartfelt 'Sorry' in his life.

I do find his early life interesting... it's what can shape a person, he was always looking for daddy's approval wasn't he. They created a monster

Roussette · 04/05/2020 12:15

I read that he really needs glasses, but is too vain to wear them, even though he has been photographed in a car with specs on. That would mean the autocue must be huge letters which is bound to make it disjointed, so he goes off piste and makes it all up

B1rdbra1n · 04/05/2020 12:20

Speccy trump wouldn't work at all, wouldn't line up with his brand, he could wear contacts but that would be inconvenient and that would never do🙄everything must bend to him🙄he will never bend to anyone

Roussette · 04/05/2020 12:31

Apparently if he is doing the tweets, he insists on doing it alone because he hates anyone seeing him in glasses and he can't see the screen. What an idiot.

If he wore them perhaps it would make him seem more intelligent, sorely needed surely

TheNorthWestPawsage · 04/05/2020 12:45

Glasses could help keep his wig on as well. Grin

Mittens030869 · 04/05/2020 13:10

I didn't think anyone was too vain about wearing glasses anymore, so many people wear glasses and they're quite fashionable these days.

I wonder about the extent to which he plays dumb, sometimes he uses very simple language and repeats the same terms over and over like a confabulating old man, other times he apparently spontaneously uses longer words.

I think it might just be the usual early-senility thing during which you sometimes do and sometimes do not lose words.

If he has poor vision why on earth does he not have laser surgery to sort it out? Heaven knows he could afford it; and if he is frit he could have it done one eye at a time. He has plenty of spare time to get it done in, and nobody would miss him for a week or so while he was getting over it.

lionheart · 04/05/2020 13:25

I think it also depends on which words have been repeated to him just before.

'Very good people' again according to Trump. Awful.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/05/2020 14:29

Northwest the VP nominee is chosen at the National Convention. They're 'technically' chosen by the party, but normally the presidential nominee is heavily consulted. So we won't know who Biden's running mate is until the end of the DNC this coming August.

Bruce I think Scrotus is 'dumb like a fox'. He's not intelligent himself, but he's very cunning and knows enough to surround himself with sycophants and people who have brains but are also willing to do his dirt for the right amount of money.

He's really a prime example of what happens when you spoil a child beyond redemption. Kind of reminds me of Rhoda in 'The Bad Seed' with the GOP as the mother who ignores all the warning signs until it is too late. And so here we are, in the middle of a pandemic with probably 1000s of lives who have been or will be lost unnecessarily.

I didn't watch his 'Town Hall' but by all accounts it was the usual shit-show. He loves to compare himself to Lincoln, it's not the first time that's happened. Anyone LESS like Lincoln I cannot imagine!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/05/2020 17:18

I have a short story marinating in which he says he is just like Lincoln, and Lincoln's ghost taps him on the shoulder and says "a-hem" very quietly. I am unsure how it ends, though.

lionheart · 04/05/2020 17:29

With the petrification of the supposedly living President?

Like the little animals in Narnia, only happier for the entire realm. Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 04/05/2020 18:12

Maybe it happens during a 'Town Hall' and Scrotus shits his pants on live TV? It'd be even better if only Scrotus can see the ghost.

NYT bestseller for sure!!!!

You should get writing. Smile

If the four presidents on Mt Rushmore were chosen to represent the nation's birth, growth, development, and preservation, as it says in Wikipedia, Trump could represent destruction.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/05/2020 22:14

I'm afraid it is only a Drabble: 100 words long. There just isn't any more.

The President sat beneath the statue of the great man, congratulating himself: the Lincoln Memorial was a fine place to show himself and vaunt his power. This broadcast would bring in more people than ever to his side. “I’ll tell you one thing. We did the right thing and I really believe we saved a million and a half lives,” he bragged. But there was something wrong. His mouth dried up, and suddenly he was unable to speak. What? How?

A hand tapped his shoulder; he turned, furious -- how dare some fool interrupt his rally?

"Ahem," said Abraham Lincoln, coldly.

Donald Trump Jr., under instructions from Daddy, attempts to redirect voters’ attention from 80,000 US deaths to vague Biden conspiracy brain farts. (I don’t apologise for giving them this term - his “hunter? Valery? Frank? James? Russia?’’ is so irritating, yet to his base so exciting - it’s akin to dangling meat in front of crocodiles.)

Donald Trump Jr. @DonaldJTrumpJr 1 hr

The Biden papers is the even bigger story. What’s in there about China? What’s in there about hunter? Valery? Frank? James? Russia? He admitted Putin dealings today. What about other foreign governments? Anything on Iran? What about major issues of domestic policy importance?

Roussette · 05/05/2020 07:34

lion That article is Shock

Trump cares nothing about lives lost...

"Maybe Trump is betting that any resurgence will occur after the election, when the economy appears to be on the road to recovery.

The first responsibility of a president is to keep the public safe. But Donald Trump couldn’t care less. He was slow to respond to the threat, then he lied about it, then made it hard for states – especially those with Democratic governors – to get the equipment they need.

Now he’s trying to force the economy to reopen in order to boost his electoral chances this November, and he’s selling out Americans’ health to seal the deal. This is beyond contemptible"

Roussette · 05/05/2020 08:04

An article about how the world Press is reporting about Trump

Roussette · 05/05/2020 08:10

'And if Trump wins a second term? Any nation can make a mistake once, elect a bad leader once. But if Americans choose Trump again, that will send a clear message: We are no longer a serious nation. We are as ignorant as our thoughtless, narcissistic, ignorant president. Don’t be surprised if the rest of the world takes note of that, too.'

Roussette · 05/05/2020 08:22

Another article in a similar vein...

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 05/05/2020 08:29

He claims to have spoken to "many" former presidents who agree with him. All the living ones deny this. So maybe he is chatting to the paintings?

Anniegetyourgun · 05/05/2020 10:51

Asking, I'm afraid your story can't have a happy ending. Trump is too far gone for a Dickensian redemption. After Lincoln makes his pitch then sinks back into the ground or the statue or whatever, Trump will sit there quite impressed, perhaps, for a few minutes but will then muse on Lincoln's untimely end and conclude that doing "the right thing" doesn't get you anywhere. He dismisses the great man as a loser and goes back to working on his rally speech. Because that's all he knows how to do.

If you want a more hopeful ending you might add a postscript of Lincoln saying to himself or to the other Presidential ghosts, maybe, looking forward... the nation will survive... a great one will arise in due course to steer it right etc.
