Doing my head in. Neighbours swing set, kid on it constantly. I have my own swing set, and three DCs so I'm not a kill joy but it's been driving me mad all week.

Anonymous note, earplugs, full on mental breakdown or polite word.

They seem nice enough, not really aware of the noise they make, kids shout, they burn shit, radio on in a very quiet neighbourhood. I'm all for live and let live but really.

Send some WD40 over the fence or sneak over there in the middle of the night and spray it yourself?

WD40 is a mediocre lubricant, wears off quickly. Use actual oil if you're going to go all ninja about it, or grease ideally.

Or use it as an inroad into a noise conversation? "Hi, could you grease up the swing hinges, it's going right through me" leading to other "SHUT THE FUCK UP" (paraphrased) chat in days later on.

Can't you just say something politely and offer them some grease? If someone said this to me I'd just agree and grease it.

My neighbours have a child that cried hysterically for 80% of the day when she was a baby. Now that was awful because I couldn't possibly say anything. Well, I did say, when they brought it up once, that I'd happily wheel her out on a walk so they got a break. But the mum was past herself and just said she would manage. Child is a lovely 3 year old now! But it was so tiring and even if she wasnt crying you were on edge for it to start.

It's a squeaky swing not a criticism. Just be friendly
