WIFI booster that doesn't need computer to set up

I hoped with all the people working from home at the moment that someone might be able to help!

The WiFi doesn't go very far through my house, I don't know if it's the thick concrete walls. I found a WiFi booster plug in a cupboard but the cables and things are missing and I don't have a computer with sockets to use to set one up.

Has anyone got a WiFi booster that you can set up if you only have an iPad/phone that they could recommend? I'm not very tech savvy compared to most people nowadays so I don't really know what I need.

Thank you for reading!

I ordered a TP-LINK RE200 range extender off ebay, and although I used my computer to set it up, via wifi, I think you can also download an app (called "Tether") and set it up that way.

I would find the instructions for yours online, it may be possible to set it up over wifi. If I reset mine to factory state, if my memory is right, it puts out a signal with a standard name and password, you can connect to it over wifi and configure it, then once you've done that, you reconnect using the network name and password you gave it.

I initially bought a new cheap extender off Amazon, but the older used TP-Link I obtained subsequently proved much more flexible and powerful. The software allowed me to configure it so it only uses 5G to connect to the router, and only puts out a 2.4G signal itself. Using completely difference radio bands for upstream vs downstream communications means it's much faster, the two signals don't interfere with each other.

In fairness, I am very tech savvy, and it took me a while to get my RE200 working exactly as I wanted, so I can't promise it'll be easy for you.

The one we had you plugged into the socket and pressed the WPS on both the router and the plug and it did it itself.

You can use a wire but you don’t need too.

We got this one - it’s almost a plug and play and is don’t just by connecting to it in your wireless networks on you phone. Gave us an extra 8 metres or so

I have the TP-LINK RE200 took 10 mins to set up via the app and has been working great, we might get a second so there’s one in each room for late night Netflix binges.
