Rita Ora

My piss is officially boiled. Rita Ora is on the one show and has just said she is going to volunteer to help the NHS by talking to the elderly or sending hospitals books she's finished reading. Who needs PPE or medical equipment when you can have one of Rita's old paperbacks.
Then we come to the real reason why they have dug her up which is to promote some dreary song she wants to sell.
I remember her pulling the same trick when all those poor souls lost lives when grenfell towers caught fire. Going on about performing gigs in the landings.
Self promotion is great but not off the back of someone else's tragedy.

But The One Show is just a promo show for people in the media anyway.....

iheartislesofwight · 08/04/2020 21:56

self serving celebs best ignored at the best of times.

Mummyshark2019 · 08/04/2020 22:07

Oh dear...

RandomAmanda · 08/04/2020 22:31

Great news!! You guys work so hard, you deserve a reward so you're getting a special concert! Just for you

Oh, okay, thank you. Well that's lovely, I guess. Who's playing at this concert?

Eh... Rita Ora

Confused
Fuss · 08/04/2020 22:54

She’s not the sharpest tool. I cringed for her weekly on The Masked Singer.

dontgobaconmyheart · 08/04/2020 23:33

I guess its about as much genuine help as a poster in your window and a clap, at least...

Not a fan of hers but if she does so then super, loneliness is a huge issue in this country, how many of us are contacting Age UK to be a befriended then? (Yes, I am one). I believe her mother has rejoined the NHS also, as an ex worker, not that she needs the money.

beefthief · 08/04/2020 23:38

You're quite right. Ora should be down the PPE factory getting her hands dirty making masks.

TheClitterati · 08/04/2020 23:42

YABU to watch the One Show

user1471565182 · 09/04/2020 00:44

Think Ive said this before on here but I read an interview in which she said her first memory was at around 8 years old. Madness.

MashedSpud · 09/04/2020 00:48

At least the kids will appreciate the under fives books.

CaptainCabinets · 09/04/2020 02:29

Are you volunteering, OP?

Cacaca · 09/04/2020 03:01

Pretty sure her mother worked in private practice but has now volunteered and is working frontline nhs.

Well with all the things going on at the moment, Rita Ora is your focus?

I’m getting sick of all this finger pointing. Rather than bitch about her, what are you doing?

SleepingStandingUp · 09/04/2020 04:05

Well the books gonna is odd I grant you but 1. She's offering to do something ie the cake when lots of celebraties don't 2. She's asked to be on the show because has music to sell. You might not want to buy it but others will. Should they all have to give it away for free?

Imstillskanking · 09/04/2020 04:08

The one show is crap. I wouldn't expect to see anything interesting or useful on it.

Gingerkittykat · 09/04/2020 15:51

I'm sure the covid-19 patients in intensive care will appreciate a bit of reading material and the staff will be happy about the infection risk from old books being passed around the place.

Maroon85 · 09/04/2020 16:20

I'm sure if Rita has lots of spare PPE or medical equipment lying around she'd be donating it but I doubt she does. Her idea is a bit random but I don't know what you actually expect her to do instead.

@user1471565182 why is that madness? My first memory is from when I'm around that age

Dizzywizz · 10/04/2020 08:42

I agree with @Maroon85, @user1471565182 - why is that madness? I have memories from younger, but my dh’s Start around then

vegas888 · 10/04/2020 09:08

Yes I remember her on the Graham Norton show and when asked what her hidden talent was she replied that she could burp the alphabet.

🙄🙄

user1471565182 · 11/04/2020 02:39

Seriously you don't remember anything before then? my first memory and most people I know were around 3.

Fantasiaa · 11/04/2020 02:43

YABU.
She’s volunteering.
She mentioned it and also mentioned her new music.

Are you volunteering ?

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 11/04/2020 06:52

Where the hell can she get PPE from if there is a shortage... She's doing something nice, it's up to the government to sort out medical equipment not celebrities...

Maroon85 · 11/04/2020 11:32

@user1471565182 No. I have no recollection at all of my grandad for example, who died when I was 6. My first memory is from when I was 7. But I don't even have many memories for years after that

tttigress · 11/04/2020 11:35

Agree that the One Show is just a promotion vehicle for celebrates.

What we really should be asking is why this promotion vehicle is part of the BBC.
