I do a few hours of maths tuition a week as a volunteer working with looked after children. Since lockdown I have been doing this via Zoom.

One of the foster carers has been recording the sessions and told me this was to share with her own children which I wasn't keen on but didn't object to. I have now found out that her sister who runs a big scale tutoring business is sending these videos out as part of her weekly work pack for which she charges £30 (they get a class lesson as well).

AIBU to think this is not ok and they should have asked? When I questioned her I was told 'we're all in the same boat and need to help each other'. I have had to shut my business and have no income at present so I whilst I happy to volunteer and help vulnerable students I do not want to be creating content for a private business to use for free. AIBU?

Ah, sorry for the unnecessary safeguarding explanation.
I wonder if your son's friend, or rather his parents will be asking for a refund now …..

I think your issue is with the tutoring company not the foster carer. I would be emailing (not via phone call) so you have a record to keep, that you have not given permission for the company to use your recordings, they are using your intellectual property illegally and request that they immediately stop and delete any material they have. If they continue to use your property in any way with their tutoring material, you will contact your solicitor and take it further.

It is outrageous!

I bet she's getting a cut from her sister. For 'all the children' my arse.

You’re being selfish Shock Angry.

Cheeky fucking bitch!! Her sister is lining her pockets off the back of your stolen work!! I have a feeling she is so entitled and moronic that she will never understand where she is wrong. If we weren’t in lockdown, you could wander randomly into her house, open some wine and settle in her garden. In these difficult times, she shouldn't be selfish!!!

Send her an invoice.

It makes me wonder whether the sister has passed off anyone else’s worksheets as her own, as it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if this wasn’t the first time she’s done this!!

This reminds me of one of my secondary school teachers. She was one of the needlework teachers and every week she used to attend an evening class in needlework that my mum taught and then the following week this teacher would show the kids exactly what my mum had covered in her class the week before. If one of the kids had a problem or question that she couldn’t answer, this teacher would tell the kid that she would think about it and give them the answer the following week - she would then ask my mum the question at the next evening class!!

My mum thought it was all a bit strange but it was when I had her as my needlework teacher we realised exactly what she was up to!! My mum then started to leave out some small but vital bits of information when showing this lady some techniques which made people at school realise that she wasn’t quite up to scratch to teach the level of needlework she was supposed to be teaching!!

Could you arrange for "someone else" to purchase the study package on your behalf so you have your own evidence without giving the game away. Then you can see whether they have complied or not?

Outrageous CF-ers!
Bet Foster parent would not look after the children for free would she?
