What on earth have I found buried in our garden?!

Recently moved house and due to lockdown and decent weather have finally decided to tackle the garden.

I was digging up the very far corner of the garden and found whatever this is buried about 2 inches under the soil and covered in leaf litter, my DP thinks it is part of an old radio but I think part of an old computer as I spy a USB port, and I cant fathom why somebody would bury an old radio. Can anybody shed light on what this is?

Iv got a horrible feeling about it Confused

A motherboard for a pc or laptop is about the size of a pc or laptop lengthways. That is some kind of card don't know of any graphics card that needs a mini usb port

Auridon4life · 08/04/2020 18:06

What shokotan 101 said.

Kravarza · 08/04/2020 18:09

It's a motherboard, probably from an old computer.

FelicisNox · 08/04/2020 18:14

It's just a bit of old computer

riceuten · 08/04/2020 18:32

Definitely a laptop or PC circuitboard.

My colleagues in Walthamstow found 30 old CRT computer screens buried in a mound at the back of their card, mixed in, bizarrely with 20 odd pairs of knickers. I have no idea of the provenance of either, though it is possible that the former were some kind of "ballast" to build the mound

AllOutOfNaiceHam · 08/04/2020 18:43

Not RTFT.
That's part of a PlayStation controller.
I fix these at work.

chubbylover78 · 08/04/2020 18:49

Looks like an old mobile phone judging by the charging point.

Rachel1874 · 08/04/2020 19:02

Looks like a motherboard to me

AddressLabel · 08/04/2020 19:03

@BertieBotts
Nobody has a PS3 any more, they're ancient, the PS5 is about to come out. That controller would have been worthless years ago. It was either taken apart out of curiosity, or to take a part out in order to try and use it for something else. Or possibly the controller was smashed in a fit of rage and the bits went everywhere.
Rubbish. I still have my PS3, as do many of my PS4 gaming buddies. Loads of people will collect them too, will have PS1 & PS2 etc. Hell, I still even have my Commodore 64.

vulvacious · 08/04/2020 21:07

It’s a mobile phone motherboard.

iHateJanuary2020 · 08/04/2020 21:28

Very timely for this thread. Man finds old car buried in garden.

I'm procrastinating so I deciphered the serial number on the bottom. Google MSU VX4 images and you find that AllOutOfNaiceHam is indeed correct and it's from a Playstation controller. Most likely a Playstation 3 dual-shock to be precise.

Behold it's former glory!

What on earth have I found buried in our garden?!
Hotcuppatea · 08/04/2020 22:36

Am truley 😱 at all these buried vehicle stories. I had no idea it was a thing. Imagine just HOW LONG that would take to dig the hole.

YouTheCat · 08/04/2020 22:55

Future archaeologists are going to think all these cars are some kind of bizarre burial ritual. Grin

Nearly47 · 08/04/2020 23:04

Without a hard drive I can't see you could find much information stored. It looks bare of any components too although I can't see properly as it is so dirty

Wauden · 08/04/2020 23:21

Actually I can see why the OP would find it noteable, because of the weird man who lived there. The weird man also is worried about your gardening and digging things up and OP has already found some strange things.
There's a story here.

StrangeLookingParasite · 08/04/2020 23:31

Definitely IS a PC card probably either PCIor PCI-E interface

Definitely isn't. There are no pins visible to slot it into the board.

Shotokan101 · 09/04/2020 03:50

@StrangeLookingParasite - you should have gone to specsavers or maybe on a basic pc internals course perhaps?

Pcior even older isa cards don't have "pins" and use"slot in edge connectors" which are clearly visible in the photos......

Jim

Shotokan101 · 09/04/2020 03:53

Looking in detail again those may not be pci edge connectors - need to see from the other side :(

user1471565182 · 09/04/2020 05:04

My neighbour dug up a german incendiary bomb a few years back, told her to ring 999 but she believed the dickheads on our local group who claimed it was part of a sash window

msmith501 · 09/04/2020 05:28

It is not a PC Card or motherboard for a PC. The USB port is of a type not used on PCs and is typically used as a charging port rather than as a data transfer port - although not always. The components are minimal from the pictures and I suspect it's more likely to be a mass-produced item such as a radio or similar.

PhilCornwall1 · 09/04/2020 05:31

t looks like a computer motherboard to me

It's nowhere near big enough to be a motherboard.

LadyEloise · 09/04/2020 08:21

@ThankyouKindlyForYourTimeSir
You found a dress and shoes buried in your garden. In what condition ? I'd be worried someone was murdered. Why bury a dress and shoes ? From what era ?

Srslydontgiveacrap · 09/04/2020 08:23

What’s creepy about it ? The Russians aren’t spying on you dear

onionface · 09/04/2020 08:54

Added to checklist when buying new house - dig up bits of garden in case of cars, ice cream vans, or laptops.

Surely all of this buried metal and electronics can't be good for the soil, or for growing veggies in.
