What on earth have I found buried in our garden?!

Recently moved house and due to lockdown and decent weather have finally decided to tackle the garden.

I was digging up the very far corner of the garden and found whatever this is buried about 2 inches under the soil and covered in leaf litter, my DP thinks it is part of an old radio but I think part of an old computer as I spy a USB port, and I cant fathom why somebody would bury an old radio. Can anybody shed light on what this is?

Iv got a horrible feeling about it Confused

FFS! How silly. YABU

I was walking back from the train station to my house a couple of years ago, to be met by a police cordon. I was told to go the (very) long way round to get to my house (it's a long straight street) and when I got home to stay at the back of my house.

A neighbour about 10 doors down had unearthed an unexploded WW2 bomb in their garden.

Now that's something to have a horrible feeling about - if I were inclined to over the top reactions.

sausagepastapot · 07/04/2020 19:45

My husband is an IT techie and he thinks it is an old controller from an old console, due to the two circular elements either end, and the port in the middle.

Nonnymum · 07/04/2020 19:48

It's a printed circuit board isn't it? Why do you have a bad feeling about it?

justforthisnow · 07/04/2020 19:50

OP is not unreasonable to have a bad feeling about this. I still think about the mobile phone buried somewhere in a forest in the UK that has all of Baby P's abuse recorded on it, and was never found. Maybe thats whats in her mind?
Maybe discard it or have a look.

Jeaniealogy · 07/04/2020 19:51

Did the couple have kids ? My first thought is a circuit board from a kid's games console...

BlackForestCake · 07/04/2020 19:52

That's not the bit of a computer that stuff is stored on so there isn't going to be any dodgy stuff on it.

CambsGent71 · 07/04/2020 19:53

Google the serial number and you will see that it's the motherboard from a Sony Playstation 3 controller.

givemeanamepls · 07/04/2020 19:57

Controller, aye.

givemeanamepls · 07/04/2020 19:58

I see what you did there.

Shamelessly following for the ice cream van story!

BakedCam · 07/04/2020 20:03

Another shameless follow for the ice cream van story.

Dahlietta · 07/04/2020 20:08

So 'sex people' then.

Yup.

Pat123dev · 07/04/2020 20:12

We found an exercise bike from 1980 with an analogue speedo in buried in our garden....

SarahAndQuack · 07/04/2020 20:13

Could be worse. This is what I dug up this afternoon.

What on earth have I found buried in our garden?!
Harrysmum2020 · 07/04/2020 20:13

I’d be thinking what was on it that they’re trying to hide

Duchessofblandings · 07/04/2020 20:14

It’s just an old circuit board, not 👽

Sorry.

bunintheoven88 · 07/04/2020 20:17

No kids as far as I know. Why would you bury that and only that in the corner of a garden? It wasn't as though it was just at the corner of the border, it was behind a tree right in the very corner.

I am thinking far too much into this, DP has told me to stop googling memory boards and theories Blush

Also what happened with the ice cream van PP??

5G CONSPIRACY 1!1!1!!!11

sorry I couldn't help it

Slith · 07/04/2020 20:19

It's a graphics card from a PC tower (have a friend who is in IT)

No, it isn't. It doesn't have the correct connectors and graphics cards don't tend to have speakers on them.

AhoyMrBeaver · 07/04/2020 20:20

My friend's dad buried a Morris Mini in their back garden because he didn't want to pay to have it towed away.

Sickoffamilydrama · 07/04/2020 20:22

I'm now even more disappointed that we only found asbestos and corrugated iron roofing!

We could have restored a car/van.

Bdayupset · 07/04/2020 20:22

Good job it's your friend that's in IT, not you.

Most underwhelming disappointing thread of the day

bunintheoven88 · 07/04/2020 20:23

@SarahAndQuack is that a tooth!?

Justanotherlurker · 07/04/2020 20:24

It's a printed circuit board isn't it?

Yes, which is standard in loads of old tech, it could be anything from an old tv remote, an old walkman, wind up radio or anything, anyone saying with confidince that its a motherboard/usb or graphics card because there neighbours friend works in IT is not someone to listen to.

As for being worried OP, I can't even begin to think why unless you purposely wanted to add a bit of tension to it, other than just seeing a bit of rubbish and throwing it in the bin.

BertieBotts · 07/04/2020 20:24

Someone probably chucked it out because it didn't work and forgot about it. Or maybe it was stolen (I'm thinking teenagers, not adults) and they didn't want someone to know.

Circuit boards are in everything electrical from your computer to your washing machine to your remote control. Having a USB port does suggest it was something portable, the placement of it, size against your hand and someone's comment about a controller makes me think it's out of a PS3 controller. If you google "PS3 Controller circuit board" it's a different shape though, maybe just a cheap third party controller or something like that.
