To have come inside

Just need a sense check on this. Happily sat in the garden working, hears someone coughing - ears prick up, realise it's next door, listen nothing else. 10 minutes later they come back out and are sat (as I could hear their conversation) quite close to the boundry wall, and I can also hear that she has a dry hacking cough. Scooped up my laptop and shot inside sharpish!!

Am I overreacting? FWIW they had a family party on Mothers Day (loads of them round) and the following week their daughter, her partner and two grandkids were round and they were all sat out in the garden - so they've not been social distancing!!

I wouldn't mind but their plot is huge, plenty of sunny places they could have sat in their garden without being so close to us. Wanted to take the kids out when they woke up from their naps but daren't now!!!

YABU for the excessive !!! as if they prove your point.

Just stay away from the boundary wall; don't hold your DC prisoner because of it.

ChubbyPigeon · 07/04/2020 15:16

Well how high is the wall? Is it above head height?

Its their own garden. YABU.

Lynda07 · 07/04/2020 15:17

You're being unreasonable - will germs fly through the wall?

Yanbu
I also would have gone inside.

@FudgeBrownie2019 bit difficult as our garden is a lot smaller and narrow so will be quite close whatever.

@ChubbyPigeon oh exactly, I know that, but in the current climate it's a bit unfair to know you've got a hacking cough and sit as close as you probably could to your neighbour's garden on a sunny day, especially when there are other places they could enjoy the sun where they wouldn't be near anyone.
