What will the Soaps do?

Apologies if there is another weirdo out there that's thought this before me,
But how will the Soaps respond to this in their storylines? Things happen all around the globe all the time but Soaps can convincingly gloss over them - a bit like your ignorant friend or family member that takes no interest in current events - but this is different. This is the one thing that is effecting each and every one of us, will it be in future storylines?
I don't watch Soaps ever, but I am bored and musing over ridiculous stuff.
Please don't be a smart arse and tell me I need to get out more.

It’s not just soaps is it?

Lots of TV relies on huge audiences. Then the reality TV won’t happen.

It’ll be interesting to see how they adapt.

Damon and Debbie could break my heart all over again just like they did when i was 16!! Happy, hormonal days!

Loofar · 07/04/2020 16:26

I'm hoping we return to a really dramatic episode and then they do flashback episodes to what we have missed Grin hint hint soap directors

cologne4711 · 07/04/2020 16:33

Channel 4 could repeat Brookside from the start. That would be fab

Yes! The early years were brilliant.

Nighttimefreedom · 07/04/2020 16:35

I would love brookie repeats!!

Nighttimefreedom · 07/04/2020 16:35

In fact I'd quite like to see eastenders and corrie from the early days too.

heartsonacake · 07/04/2020 16:35

Many moons ago before everyone had access to amazing telly, Soaps used to film 6 weeks in advance, obviously they don't anymore.

Actually most major soaps still film 6 - 8 weeks in advance.

Screamqueenz · 07/04/2020 16:39

Hollyoaks is down to 2 episodes a week, and backfilling with old episodes.
No mention of the pandemic, and I don't think there will be.

bluegrasse · 07/04/2020 16:42

I'm quite looking forward to seeing what good stuff fills the slots when the soaps and reality tv shows run out Smile

lowlandLucky · 07/04/2020 16:54

does anyone still watch them ? [

FabulouslyFab · 07/04/2020 16:54

Corrie is available on Britbox from the beginning. I doubt they’ll put it on freeview now. The classic Corries on ITV3 during the day aren’t available on catch up.
I think we’ll be set for a load of repeats of any old tosh. Probably back to back You’ve Been Framed ☹️

heartsonacake · 07/04/2020 16:56

does anyone still watch them ?

lowlandLucky No, no they don’t. They air soaps every night even thought absolutely nobody watches them Hmm

Don’t be so ridiculous. Even if you’re not a soap fan yourself you’re quite aware the majority of the country watch them so there’s no need for your snide comment.

x2boys · 07/04/2020 17:03

I only watch Classic Corrie and Classic Eastenders ,so much better imo, it was funny because ,v Vera told Percy she had a virus the other day and he said they never had Virus,s in his day I did think it was ironic!
