How to improve an old iPhone

Ohyesiam · 07/04/2020 08:23

My son has his 13 thy birthday in about 10 days. He won’t be able to have his usual party due to lockdown.
The only thing he really wants is a better phone, he has an old Nokia just for texting.
I was going to take my old iPhone to this little shop in the city near us to be wiped and give him that, but obviously that’s not more possible.
Is there anything I can do with it myself to delete contacts ( obvs I could delete them individually but if rather not! ) etc to make it more his?
I could give it as it is, there’s nothing dodgy on it, and am planning to link it to mine and put parental controls on etc, but does anyone have any ideas about making it more new for him?

Thanks

Sort him out an Apple ID and just do a reset.

Factory reset

You can factory reset the phone and order him a new sim/contract. Then it’s a clean slate to set him up on it.
Remove the case and clean the phone with alcohol wipes to remove any dirty marks and make the screen look new.
Do you still have the box to put it in to wrap it up?
Buy him a cool new phone case and tempered glass screen protector so it feels like it’s a new phone for him.

Just reset it so it’s new again.

What model is it?

How old is it and how long has it been out of use? You may need to upgrade the IOS before you reset. If it's really old you might need to plug it into a laptop to do this, and it's a faff but it is doable.
