To feel like a selfish twat

I've been ill with a chest infection for 3 weeks pleurisy could be covid but unsure and haven't been tested. My manager has been completely unhelpful also we don't have the correct PPE. I'm not willing to go back to work until my chest is 100% better as if it wasn't covid I'm not going to be fight off the infection very well if I more than likely get it.
I'm a bank nurse for a private company working with people with complex MH & LD. I genuinely love my job but it has always been more of a vocational thing. My DH earns 6 figures and has asked me why I even want to go back. They are severely short staffed and I feel torn but I didn't sign up for this.

I don't think that you sound selfish or a twat. I'd feel exactly the same in your shoes. It's normal to be scared. My husband is very high risk and I'm questioning whether I should return to work as well.

Wait until you're 1000% and then decide.

You're not a selfish twat, you're not well and no one could blame you!

Not being unreasonable at all, your health comes first before any job. Better to be safe than sorry! & if it is covid-19 you run the risk of passing it on to others. I would remain off until you feel 100% fit, a job is replaceable, your life is not. Get well soon Flowers

Put your own oxygen mask in first before helping others....

DroppedBoxxedRuth · 07/04/2020 02:35

My post should have said 100% better, not 1000%!

It's not really helping if you put yourself in a position where you're likely to become a patient yourself. The less selfish thing is to stay gone get well and then think about it next move x

Wondering if can you privately pay for a test? Do you have medical insurance?

As a co worker or client, I would rather you were better before going back to work.
