Just wanted ppls opinion as I know nobody knows for sure yet but I'm booked to go on holiday mid june what do you think are the chances of it going ahead? I've paid in full and booked it before the virus came to light so should be covered by my insurance if its cancelled.
Had no correspondence from the holiday company I've booked it with but I know it's a bit early for them to know.

Monkeynuts will you go out into the wilderness without a vaccine and take the risk?

If so, please report back here how you get on after a month or two and then I’ll reconsider staying socially distant. 🙄

Also tourism reliant countries will not be rushing to open up because when people are taking COVID19 home as a souvenir they will not want to be held accountable or face the type of image Northern Italy now has for many people.

monkeynuts 18 are you not aware of the vast amounts of people that are dying of this disease!! I don't think ridiculing people because of their fear of this is acceptable. I'm terrified of catching coronavirus, so much so that I'm taking unpaid leave from my work as a checkout operator. I have severe health anxiety and depression.

Maybe try not being so judgemental!

Ruby889 · 07/04/2020 12:58

Nope.

I have a Caribbean holiday booked for july. Already cancelled my hotel but waiting closer to the date to sort a travel voucher as I know right now the airline is swarmed with calls. About a month ago i realised it wasnt def not happening

Jet2 cancelled up to 17th June today. I've changed mine to September but will just have to wait and see x

My daughter and I should have been in Palma Nova this week as our annual mum & daughter week we have also booked for New York in October ( may be possible) but I'm not building up my hopes I think its better waiting until next year before thinking about it again.

Even if restrictions are lifted in the uk, international travel may be restricted

China, Australia, Germany already have/planning to have 2 week quarentine in place

I suspect that many other countries will follow suit

5foot5 · 07/04/2020 17:13

Doubt it.

We were booked to go to Corfu in June. The balance on the villa was due today so we have cancelled and will just take the hit on the deposit. We have insurance but not sure it will cover it.

The flight is paid for so we are just waiting until EasyJet tell us it is cancelled and then will see what our options are for getting a refund / vouchers.

Holiday in June ... I don't see why not ... June 2021 that is.

CoffeeIsMyOnlyJoy · 07/04/2020 22:23

I feel for you OP. A month ago we very much expected to go to Turkey in May.

I'm holding out hope for a trip somewhere in October. It's not a strong hope, but it's nice to have something vague to look forward to currently..

FenellaMaxwell · 07/04/2020 22:25

No. I wouldn’t even count on leisure travel for June 2021. COVID hasn’t even hit its stride in the UK yet. This is going to be a long, drawn out battle. At best, this first peak will die down around June. We’ll then likely see a second peak in October, and there won’t be a vaccine until at least the New Year.

blue25 · 07/04/2020 22:27

Zero chance. Sorry.

UnhappyMondays · 07/04/2020 22:34

Sorry OP it seems optimistic... however if you wait until/if they cancel, you can get a refund.

Good luck - cv is a shit sandwich upon which we’re all sadly chowing. GinWineGin
