Holiday in turkey june- still going ahead?

Just wanted ppls opinion as I know nobody knows for sure yet but I'm booked to go on holiday mid june what do you think are the chances of it going ahead? I've paid in full and booked it before the virus came to light so should be covered by my insurance if its cancelled.
Had no correspondence from the holiday company I've booked it with but I know it's a bit early for them to know.

OP posts:

No. No-one will be holidaying abroad this summer.

Iamtryingtobenicehere · 06/04/2020 20:55

Latest advice from FCO is don't book for any travel for foreseeable future. I don’t think you’ll be getting your holiday.

shinyredbus · 06/04/2020 20:56

Don’t know. We have a flight end of July.

cakecakecheese · 06/04/2020 20:59

I've got a holiday booked in June and am working under the impression it's not happening.

Talkingmouse · 06/04/2020 20:59

My central assumption is that there will be no holidays/cross border travel permitted for around 12 to 18 months.

June? Absolutely no chance

Ghostlyglow · 06/04/2020 21:01

It's not happening.

Khione · 06/04/2020 21:14

I very much doubt it but you won't get confirmation from the holiday company until a couple of weeks before at best. They are still coping with April holidays

KatherineJaneway · 06/04/2020 21:16

Absolutely no way.

IdblowJonSnow · 06/04/2020 21:17

No chance am afraid op!
You should get your cash back hopefully.

Bluntness100 · 06/04/2020 21:19

I don’t think it’s quite no chance op. But I would agree it’s highly unlikely. If you’d said August or September, maybe, but I don’t think June is looking good right now, but there is a small chance, none of us know how this will play out.

LincolnshireYellowBelly · 06/04/2020 21:22

No

userxx · 06/04/2020 21:25

Would you actually want to go? It would be bad enough being ill in hospital in the uk, let alone a foreign one, unless you speak Turkish.

WhenDoesTheWashingEnd · 06/04/2020 21:26

It's a nope vote from me too.

We've got one booked for late August, will be surprised if that goes ahead let alone anything before then.

taptonaria27 · 06/04/2020 21:28

We're due to go to Turkey in October (& should have gone on Saturday to Istanbul) and I doubt we'll even get to go then.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 06/04/2020 21:30

OP I'm really sorry but realistically I just don't think it's going to happen in June. Sad

Hopefully we're proved wrong though - everyone just needs to STAY AT HOME to flatten the curve. You never know, stranger things have happened! Fingers crossed x

Wehttam · 06/04/2020 21:40

OP serious question, would you be happy taking your family away during a global pandemic when medical facilities are stretched beyond belief?

Turkey is sketchy at the best of times let alone now.

I think unfortunately, it’s safe to write off any trips abroad for this summer, possibly into the winter months too. This is going to take a LONG time to see any semblance of normality in the travel industry.

Theresnobslikeshowb · 06/04/2020 21:45

As the foreign office have said no indefinitely- take it as you won’t be going.

20viona · 06/04/2020 21:46

Don't be stupid.

TWD89 · 06/04/2020 21:50

Doubtful.

I’ve all but given up on our October holiday.

PinkiOcelot · 06/04/2020 22:06

I’m supposed to be going on holiday mid July and am thinking that I won’t be going. Doubt you will be unfortunately OP.
@20viona any need?!! Feel superior now?!

Malvinaa81 · 06/04/2020 22:09

You have been told to stay at home.

Holidays in Turkey are absurd at the moment.

Twofurrycatsagain · 06/04/2020 22:12

I wouldn't think so. In fact I would be hoping it's cancelled as I wouldn't fancy being abroad if a second wave of lockdown hits.

aquashiv · 06/04/2020 22:13

June 2021

EcoCustard · 06/04/2020 22:13

We had our Easter break cancelled, holiday company strongly advised to rebook next year.

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 06/04/2020 22:16

No chance, sorry! We have a UK holiday booked end of June and I’m fully expecting it to be cancelled. Gutted as we are low income and the kids really look forward to it but we’ll go next year Smile
